I can only rank half their albums because I stopped listening after Artwork but it's easily: ST Love & Death Artwork Lies I really like Over and Over Again though on their latest album. Also, I haven't seen this band in at least 14 or 15 years now...but isn't Bert's voice like completely shot? I've heard nothing but really bad things about their past several tours.
Also so are Kissing You Goodbye and Sold My Soul. On a discography listen through after all this talk. S/T and ILAD still hold up 100%. Lies is still kinda boring on the back end. I love The Ripper but forgot that annoying voice skipping effect it ends on, ouch.
I love how Men Are All the Same incorporates Kissing You Goodbye at the end. I'm a Fake is also an unbelievable closer. So happy I saw that live.
100% truth right here. I'm a Fake should be a staple and not just brought out when they are playing ILAD in full.
Is there any chance I'm A Fake is even possible live? Does Jeph do the screaming? Cause he's terrible. The band should legit just hire a competent screamer
As a huge Hell or Highwater fan, I'm happy with their new guitar player but why they didn't seek someone who could scream too is beyond me.
Good point, that didn't occur to me if he could or not. Not familiar with him but if not, that's def a missed opportunity
I saw it back in 2004/2005ish right after the album came out. I believe they closed with it. I remember kind of being shocked it was being played at all, let alone closing with it. Bert still had it back then.
They ended with it on their first Taste of Chaos and I remember it being amazing. Also on their live DVD Berth they end with it before the encore and it's amazing.
And they are still a terrific live band. The lack of screaming isn't a dealbreaker for me, Bert is still a terrific frontman.
I wouldn't say terrific, but I saw them with TBS years ago (last tour Quinn was on) and they were still pretty good even though Bert and Josp can't scream. I really didn't notice it live, the music was so loud and you kinda just get sucked into the show. I also hate their set lengths. Even if they are headlining, they only seem to play about 13 songs. With their discography size that seems super weak.
I saw them two nights in a row 3 years ago, they played TU and ILAD in full. Though I missed Bert's screaming, they sounded really good live. They had great energy.
Almost done with my discography run (perfect because I'm seeing them in a few weeks) and Artwork is still top tier, Vulnerable is underrated and their live EP they recently did (Live from Maida Vale) is pretty cool. Rise Up Lights and Own My Own sound great, and their LP and Nirvana covers were pretty good.
I saw a live video on youtube and their stage set up and lights look pretty cool. I'm super excited for this tour, such a stacked line up.
Top 10 songs in no order: Pretty Handsome Awkward Hospital Tunnel Moving On Noise and Kisses Imaginary Enemy The Taste of Ink Light with a Sharpened Edge Slit Your Own Throat Empty with You HM: Blue and Yellow Meant to Die I Caught Fire Over and Over Again
Pieces Mended Noise and Kisses Buried Myself Alive Poetic Tragedy Sound Effects and Overdramatics I Caught Fire Maybe Memories On My Own I'm a Fake Wake the Dead I guess..
A Top 10 is actually pretty hard, I can't believe the songs I had to leave off when I was trimming down the list...Funny it turned out all Artwork, S/T an ILAD lol Sold My Soul Men Are All the Same Maybe Memories Blood on My Hands Let It Bleed Meant to Die Kissing You Goodbye Say Days Ago Take It Away I'm a Fake
I may rank later but pretty sure my whole top 10 will be made up of the first two albums lol. Never tried to rank cause even my top 20 would probably just look like the first two albums on shuffle with a couple other songs sneaking in lol.
It's so much easier to just do like a top 3 from each album: S/T: Maybe Memories, Say Days Ago, Taste of Ink ILAD: Let It Bleed, Take It Away, I'm a Fake Lies for the Liars: Paralyzed, Bird and Worm, The Ripper Shallow Believer: Slit Your Own Throat, Choke Me, My Pesticide Artwork: Sold My Soul, Blood on My Hands, Men Are All the Same Vulnerable: I Come Alive, Hands and Faces, Put Me Out Imaginary Enemy: Cry, IE, Revolution The Canyon: Rise Up Lights, Funeral Post, Vertigo Cave
Top 10 (no particular order): Taste of Ink On My Own Blue and Yellow Hard to Say I'm a Fake Kissing You Goodbye Men Are All the Same Lunacy Fringe All that I've Got Bulimic
I tried to do a top 10. No way is that happening lmao I just can't cut it down that much. My top 4 are very clear but after that nooooope (top 4 are Poetic Tragedy, On My Own, Pieces Mended, and Evolution in that order I think lol) I'll do a top 3 from each album though! Self titled: (obviously from above) Poetic Tragedy, On My Own, Pieces Mended ILAD: Cut Up Angels, Sound Effects and Overdramatics, Yesterday's Feelings Lies: Earthquake, Find a Way, Paralyzed Shallow Believer: My Pesticide, Sick Hearts, Sun Comes Up Artwork: The Best of Me, Empty with You, Sold My Soul Vulnerable: Hurt No One, Moving On, Kiss It Goodbye Ocean of the Sky: (kinda pointless but w/e lol) Quixotica, The Ocean of the Sky, Iddy Biddy Imaginary Enemy: Evolution, Force Without Violence, Cry The Canyon: Moving the Mountain, Over and Over Again, Funeral Post
