isn't it common for a guitar tech to fill in last minute? I bet it's just something like that, they are already in with the band and know the set up, ect.

Makes sense. Hell or Highwater is a project from the drummer/singer of Atreyu.

 

Hell or Highwater is a great band that has some sweet guitar. I know they take long breaks while Brendon does Atreyu so this is good for him!

 

Hell or Highwater isn't too active, so even if it is permanent they could make it work Either way, happy the dude is getting work

I finally gave The Canyon a full listen through since I was assigned it this week in the The Chorus Music Club Society thread.

You can find the full write up there if you want, but I just came here to say that even though it's not a great album all the way through, the run from Rise Up Lights through This Divine Absence is great and the best thing they've done since Artwork IMO. These tracks are awesome.

The album feels really long and bloated to me which weighs down the good, I'm going to shorten it down to just 10 tracks and move Rise Up Lights to the opener and see how it plays for me.

 

i just tried listening to a few songs to see if maybe it would click, but god... no no no

From my review: The third track Broken Windows sounds like classic used from the ILAD and LFTL era, it’s maybe the catchiest song on the album and Rise Up Lights kicks in next and has the energy a Used fan would want, another classic Used sounding song.

And I'd place For You somewhere else in the album, just not first.

I'd cut: Selfies in Aleppo, Moving the Mountain, The Quiet War, Moon-Dream, The Nexus, About You

 

The only one in the band who is popular enough to have history available to look up is the singer. Sorry. I'm sure he's old enough though and is from a good place my dude.

Man, after listening to the Canyon yesterday, Justin's influence and guitar parts were awesome. Sucks they lost him so quickly.

Haha pretty much. What sucks is I bought all 3 albums that had the different bonus tracks. And the deluxe version that looks like a book.

I can find it a fun listen once in a very long while now but what a letdown following those first two albums at that time lol.

 

I love that record so much, will forever be tied to my middle school years. I also just think it's a magnificent pop rock record in general. Not really what people wanted from The Used, but I feel like it's the last Feldmann produced Used record that really works.

 

I have that too! I remember that was kind of a thing for a bit, I have them too for P.O.D.- Testify, Staind - Chapter V and Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight. I kinda liked that format to be honest.
