I listened to Toxic Positivity on my way to work yesterday and didn't hear a single song worth coming back to... Listened to Heartwork omw home from work and was like this album slaps. Completely different, Toxic Positivity sounds so phoned in and lifeless, lyrics are weak and the music is uninteresting.
i just can't believe this is the same band that wrote self titled. if i wrote a record that good i'd just hang it up.
It’s pretty chronological for me with Toxic Positivity tying with Vulnerable. The Used In Love and Death Lies for the Liars Artwork Vulnerable … Toxic Positivity …. Everything else I don’t care about. Listened to them once and that was enough.
Quoting because I notice his postcount is 6, which is impossible unless he's deleting his posts, and I refuse to let him get away with it. Either commit to the bit or don't.
Yeah wait what the fuck I’ve been suffering through jay’s bullshit for years and won’t stand for this
He's always deleted everything after some time as far as I know Also in what world is there even one A+ song on this album which would be self-titled/ILAD level I mean cmon. Even you don't believe that
Yeah another kinda meh album. The used ranking is pretty easy imo. Chronological.... thats it. First album is an A++++++++ IN LOVE is a great follow up Lies for liars is a solid album to finish the trilogy And since then there's been a bunch of solid new songs here and there but no album comes close to the first 2. But thats not a huge knock. Like I said. You take the best songs from 2007-2022, and make a best of, then you got yourself another A album.
s/t heartwork artwork (probably higher, but haven't listened to it enough) ilad i actually liked imaginary enemy for what it is. And all the rest. Not a huge fan of LFTL, but I think I've only heard it once all the way through. lol
Listened halfway through Lies For The Liars today and again, completely blanked out on how badly The Used wanted to be MCR. I'm actually enjoying Lies more than I did when it was released, but it's still wild to hear how their sound took a hard right turn post-debut.
For all of The Used's flaws, never once have I listened to something by them and thought "oh they're trying to be MCR" I don't get that take at all tbh
Really? Just feels like the vibe, the theatrical flair, and some of the vocal delivery on both In Love And Death and Lies For The Liars are very much in line with MCR's sound. More so on the softer songs, and definitely more so on Lies.
I think they were just pretty similar bands. Their debuts aren't that far apart either and they clearly had a connection around that time. I don't think The Used were actively trying to sound like My Chem but who knows. I wish more bands would try and sound like those two from that era anyway.
The softer songs is exactly where I'd argue against that point. ILAD felt absurdly poppy when it came out compared to their debut. Idk I just don't hear it lol. Visually I wouldn't argue much against it but still always felt like The Used were kinda doing their own thing.
Running through Imaginary Enemy, and Cry gave me such hope for that album. Cry and Make Believe are the only songs worth keeping. Otherwise some truly awful choruses on this thing
I for one can’t stand My Chemical Romance. Never liked them. And I loved the hell out of The Used when they came out. So yah. The comparisons make no sense to me at all.
