Slit Your Own Throat is one of my favorite songs from them ngl Also Lies for the Liars still bangs for me
LFTL is like one of the most tragic missteps of sequencing in history for me. all-time whiff of what songs to put on the goddamn album. Dark Days, Tunnel, SYOT, Pain and My Pesticide all just dunk on anything on that album
This makes them come off as incredibly petty and I’d hope they wouldn’t do something like that to their fans who deserve to hear their best material…
I was so psyched for that album too and bought all three versions to get all the bonus tracks. Plus the deluxe book thing that bands were doing back then If only I'd known I would've just been able to buy Shallow Believer eventually
I'm willing to believe they specifically saved some tracks for the future release that would be Shallow Believer, but I highly doubt that they "chose the best tracks" to leave off. Why cripple their own efforts? Anyway, there are good songs on Lies For The Liars.
I agree with what a lot of folks are saying about Toxic Positivity. It’s.. fine. Huge letdown for me, coming right after Heartwork. Heartwork was their best album since Artwork imo.
this was fine but instantly forgettable. doubt i'll ever go back to it. maybe they should get a new producer next time
The highs ain't too high and the lows ain't too low. Idk it just kinda feels like a comfort record that I needed atm.
Yeah! Toxic Positivity is growing on me with each listen. I still think it is a very mid tier Used album, but I am okay with that. I just still don't understand how "Fuck You" and "People Are Vomit" were singles, but not on the album, but are also better than every song off Toxic Positivity? Just weird
he said they didn't fit the themes/story of the record which makes sense to me. I also think those two were about the same quality as most of the songs on here.
It really just gave me a completely different idea of what the album was going to be. But, oh well. Now it's time to listen to the rest of their discog
Got around to this today and am a bit surprised at the sheer amount of dislike here. It's far from their best material, but it does kinda remind me of Lies for the Liars more than a few times, which also isn't my favorite album from them, but anyway... I think it's an enjoyable listen
listened again today and well... I mean, I liked the opening track this time (which i don't think i did before), but most of the rest just seemed less than today. I mean, I did still like Brick and House of Sand is good, but it's a slower song (today I wanted more energy). Giving Up is still my top. Self Titled songs started playing after this and really, there is just nothing like that first album!
