Honestly I think it's an enjoyable listen. Don't know if I'll come back to it a lot in the future though.

 

Only halfway through but this is their best album since LftL which is really fun album.

 

Their last 3 releases are extremely terrible but Artwork is only half terrible and only one song on Lies for the Liars totally sucks

 

i'm usually not annoyed with a bit of trolling either but i think it might have been taken just a bit too far in this thread, it's one thing to be funny and sarcastic, but at least half the posts for a few pages there, would be like oh that's an interesting positive comment for the album, oh wait, nope just douchery. maybe i have bad taste but i do have respect for the band and theme of the album, and it shouldn't be a complete joke to try and have some intelligent discussion about the good and bad.

with that said, i definitely laughed at the obnoxiousness a few times, so, keep it up i suppose

Yeah, it's not an issue of opinions, it's just that actual discussion of those opinions good OR bad was getting totally drowned out and it bummed me out a bit as someone who really wanted to continue discussing the album. All I was saying.

With that said, I'll shift it back to the album: I actually think the last few tracks are some of the best on the album. Even though I think you start feeling the length a bit deeper into the album's back half, the stretch of The Nexus, About You, and The Mouth of the Canyon is a great closing stretch and really ties the album together thematically.

 

I mean, there’s an ignore user button yknow? Or you could just, like, not get bent out of shape over people joking.

I’ve got it all out my system now. Truthfully this album is fine, it’s better than the last 3, but this thread has suddenly turned weird and confrontational over nothing so I can just dip out

 

I like disc one a lot more but yeah before Nexus I zone out a bit for sure

Wasn't even trying to make it confrontational, I even said that I laughed at a bunch of the jokes... I was just pointing out what I (and seemingly others also) were thinking but didn't want to say for fear of being buzzkills or whatever. I enjoyed the shitposting but didn't want someone new coming in here to think that if they like this album they'll be equated to TUG.

 

I feel like both halves of the record are equally solid. Like I said, I honestly don't think there is any filler on this. I ended up buying the CD yesterday from Best Buy just so I could read through the lyric booklet, and I'm glad I did. To me, this feels like The Used finally living up what I knew they could be and I hope they continue on this path.

 

It's just a bit annoying because I might actually like to discuss the album a bit but when the whole thread is just shitting all over everything by people that don't even care about the album, I'm just setting myself up to get crapped on if I comment

Basically this, I feel like someone who likes this album but isn't really familiar with the forum would be scared to comment if they read through the last few pages. I also never felt the need to ignore @CoffeeEyes17 it's not that serious.

If they cut the last bridge and chorus out of Over and Over and Upper Falls they'd be some of my favorite songs from these guys. I need to listen to that last stretch of songs again.

 

I basically agree with this... I really think the ambition on here is really noticeable in a way that hasn't been felt in their work in a long time.

 

Over And Over Again is still probably my favorite song from this? idk it kinda runs together after a while and its long as shit but hey at least its decent

 

It's about the tone of the thread and overall conversation, and how that influences subsequent discussion. Contrary to popular belief tone is a thing that exists online and not just with in-person conversations lol
