See I attempted sarcasm again and you all ruthlessly attacked me on the internet. CYE is a show I quote too often irl
Hmmmm...... appreciate what they're trying here, specifically the guitar work, but Bert's vocals are shod to hell to the point where it is unbearable to listen imo.
Clearly you just don’t GET it. It’s factually proven that those with lower IQs can’t hear singing vocals properly. It’s a shame that you will forever miss out on such monumental performances. Alright logging off for tonight gotta go grab some more Monsters to chug while I pull an all nighter playing CoD with the bros. Been AIM chatting with a cute girl so I’ll also be spending time with her if you know what I mean ;) trying to get her into good music like Nickelback and Theory Of A Dead Man and this album but she’s too busy listening to “pop” music. Oh well, they can’t all be beautiful AND smart right fellas? Lol peace \m/ \m/
Did I ever truly live before this album?!?! Are we looking at the highest first week sales ever? Or are the masses too dumb to understand this brilliance?
Boy that's a lot to absorb. Most of it doesn't even feel like a Used record which I mean in a good way. Last few albums I feel like Quinn tried too hard to write Used riffs. Loved Broken Windows, Vertigo Cave, Funeral Post, Upper Falls, The Divine Absence most. Wasn't in to The Nexus at first til the choir came in and then the end was awesome. I didn't hate Rise Up Lights when I first heard it but thought I'd like it more in the context of the album, but I just flat out hate it now. Doesn't belong on this album one bit lol. And seen some complaints that these sound like demos and I love that this isn't drowning in extraneous shit like LFTL. Or most of their stuff lol.
The Used continue to push the envelope in every way imaginable on this record, an absolutely phenomenal take on the state of the world today, offering not one but several ways we as a society can improve ourselves and each other through this beautiful musical masterpiece. I, for one, am not surprised in the least, this is The Used we’re talking about. Legends in their own right and legends of the free world.
Well, holy crap. This is fantastic. Easily their best work since the first two albums and it might sit up there with them when all is said and done.
Also 9/10 from Drowned in Sound Album Review: The Used - The Canyon / Releases / Releases // Drowned In Sound I find it interesting how the critical response that I've seen so far is so overwhelmingly positive, contrasted with the mixed audience response haha
