Is the mixing that bad I've heard a lot of people complain about it on over and over and rise up lights but the mixing on those songs sounds fine to me. Have to wait until after work to listen.

 

The Production is very At The Drive-In-esque. Raw and noisey.

 

It hasn’t bothered me much but I admittedly don’t have a trained ear at all. My friend’s opinion was basically that the sound they’re going for would be better served by a more epic, “produced” sound and that these mixes sound like demos.

I got through about halfway last night and it kinda bored me. Maybe because it was at like 2 in the morning and I wasn't focusing as much so I'll see when I do a full listen but I dunno

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The Used. The themes are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the lyrics will go over a typical listener’s head. There’s also Berts nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his songwriting- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lyrics, to realize that they’re not just brilliant- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike The Used truly ARE idiots (and probably My Chemical Romance/Taking Back Sunday fans :P) of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the emotion in the bands existential guitar chords “Em, G, C then add an Am in the bridge” which itself is a cryptic technique of songwriting to which Greek Philosophers perfected. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as The Useds genius talent unfolds itself in their headphones. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Imaginary Enemy tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid
