They should just retire that song. They have so many other great songs to play that don't require a ton of screaming.
Yeah and they always play it as an encore. Box Full of Sharp Objects is one of The Used songs i like the least actually, and I think most fans kind of feel the same way. Taste of Ink would make a much better encore song me thinks.
I would love if they brought I'm a Fake back as the encore. Song has so much energy and I don't think I'd mind the screams so much as they are limited to just "I'm a Fake"
I know I keep saying this, but i seriously cannot wait to hear this album. Its going to be a breath of fresh air for the band and for me as a fan.
I haven't seen them since the s/t days but live videos of them over the past few years sound so bad. I have zero interest in seeing them live anymore.
I must be lucky or something bc I've seen them like 15 times or some absurd number around there and they've always sounded great. I honestly can't ever even hear Jeph screaming bc everyone around me is screaming along so loud so it's never ruined the song or anything for me. As long as Bert's singing sounds good I'm happy and he's always sounded good when I've seen them.
Depending on how they execute on this new album...I might check them out live again. I haven’t seen them live since the In Love and Death days. Never cared to see them after that since my friends said they they weren’t the same live and the videos I’ve seen were all pretty rough.
they were much more "raw", "fresh", "different", and "scary" back when Bert would throw up all over the stage, then Quinn would throw his guitar down into the vomit, jump on the guitar, and then pick it up back up to play again (ALL MID-SONG) they don't do anything raw, fresh, different, or scary anymore, dude... haha. also, they're a radio rock band.
I don't think the majority of people on Chorus love "radio rock", so I'm a little confused on who this is directed towards.
Yeah I'm totally cool with Bert not puking anymore. If I see someone puke, I'm gonna puke and I don't really feel like puking at a show lol
I'm honestly so incredibly jealous of everyone who got to see them back then. I was only 11 when their 1st album came out so I didn't get to see them until Shallow Believer was out. Basically missed out on all the screaming Still mad at my dad bc he would never allow me to see them before that.
The times I saw them back then were soooo much fun. They were our "hometown heroes" back then so it was really cool watching them blow up. More and more people at every show. The first time I saw them (the infamous puking moment that I described above) was right after they had gotten signed. I didn't know them or any of their songs at that point yet, but their friend Matt (who was in a couple pre-Used bands with the some of the guys) owned a venue by my house, and I became good friends with him so he invited me to come check out the show. There's a video from that show on YouTube of them playing "On My Own" for the first time ever. They opened with that and I remember being amazed that Bert wasn't using the microphone for his screams during that song. I saw them at that venue a couple times. The second time I saw them there, the venue put a garbage can on the stage for Bert to throw up into so they didn't have to clean the stage again. The third time I saw them there was when they debuted "Alone This Holiday" and they also played an old song called "Zero Mechanism" at that show, I believe. I actually recorded a bootleg of the whole show on my cassette recorder, that I had set up at the back of the venue. Apparently that bootleg is still getting distributed. I've seen it on a couple bootleg sites, but I haven't been able to actually find a working download link for it! I want a copy of it again! haha. Anyway, yeah, I miss that era of the band. It was really fun watching them blow up.
One time their old touring guitarist Greg was at my buddy's house and I played "The Taste of Ink" on guitar while Greg played the drums. Haha, it was pretty cool.
Taste of Ink was the first song I heard by them. Completely changed my life. I remember going to my cousin's house and we saw the video for it and at the time we were just listening to like GC and Simple Plan and that kinda stuff so we were like WHOA!!!!! I think our heads about exploded when we found Box Full of Sharp Objects lol I remember having to wait for her mom to get off the phone so we could use the internet (LOL) to find out more about the band. It took awhile bc we were dumb kids and kept getting all used car results lol I also vividly remember when ILAD came out. I saved up my allowance, made my mom drive me to Best Buy so I could buy the CD and my older brother was PISSED when my mom let me put the CD in on the way home. He always hated the music I liked like typical older brothers lol
