  1. Bert looked funny sitting on that chair like that and jamming to their songs. Haha. Cautiously optimistic about this album.

Just heard the first single on my daily mix. Actually really enjoyed it. I haven't properly paid attention since whatever Artwork I think, other than the odd single.

Met with my client today who loves The Used. Needless to say...they’re incredibly excited for the release haha.

  4. I kinda want to see Glassjaw, but I dunno... The Used isn't great live anymore.

The short sets drive me nuts. Like I know I'm not just a casual fan and have seen this band way more times than normal people, but I've heard the same songs over and over and over. I get they gotta keep the hits in, but when it's only 12 songs that doesn't give a lot of room for other material. I wanna keep supporting them but I'm getting bored with the setlist.

So close. I remember the initial announcement seemed so far away!

  7. Am I in the Blink-182 thread?

    :-)

Tangent time: But really, bands need to change up their setlists more. I mean, even Weird Al just announced a new tour where he gave a cautionary message before tickets go on sale basically saying "I'm not playing any hits. I'm only doing deep cup original songs. No parodies. So make sure you know that before you buy tickets." Like, why can't bands like Blink-182 or The Used or whoever do cool "different" kind of tours where they change up their typical setlist more, for the big fans that come to every single show of theirs. Bands like Blink especially are going to make plenty of money no matter what kind of tour they do, so like... why not? A cool idea: When a band is touring on a new album, why don't they play the whole album front to back and then an encore of "the hits"? That could be awesome.

It is kind of sad that the Used are about to put out a record that's longer than their live show. I talked about this a couple months ago in here. There's no reason for a band with that much material to only play 12-14 songs, especially when their songs aren't long!

  9. Maybe Bert can't handle singing more songs than that every night. That'd make sense, I guess.

I’m pretty sure it’s going to be something like that. They haven’t been amazing live for sometime not sure if that’s changed recently?

He already doesn't scream live, now he can't sing live? I don't know, need to lower the ticket prices at a minimum if you're going to play for 45 minutes-Hour

i have no recollection of bert not screaming or them having such a short set when i saw them headline over taking back sunday, which still blows my mind, but i still remember it being a positive experience. only other time i'd seen them was taste of chaos.

I have to strongly disagree after seeing them last year. they absolutely stunned me, all my friends and I were planning to leave a festival after a few Used songs and we ALL realized we had to stay to watch the full set, just a few songs in. They are extremely strong live now

I was at that same show, Armory right? He didn't scream, had another member scream, or had crowd scream. They also played for about 45-50 minutes and play 12 songs total(including only half of The Bird and the Worm) It was almost painful to watch the heavier songs to see how not involved Bert was

  15. Maybe Bert can sing better now, but man... Jeph's screaming is AWFUL! And so it bums me out seeing them live now. I saw them play lots of small local shows when they were newly signed, hadn't even released their first album yet, and it was a whole different game. They were on a different level. Now I see them and it's completely different/not as exciting, to me at least.

I suppose when you see them at arguably their best, seeing them today can be disheartening!

I mean yeah, it's a completely different show now. Those shows in the early days were fucking nuts, really out there and different from what existed, and they were fun. Their current show (at least the one I saw) was very different, super theatrical and way more time and effort put into the whole creation of it all. And although it's different, it's really fantastic.

Personally I think they seem re-energized live since Justin joined. He brought a great new energy to their instrumentation. Yeah Bert can’t scream like he used to, but I think they compensate for it well.

I’m gonna guess that we’re either getting a second pre-release single on Friday or not at all. I’m leaning towards not at all. The album’s probably gonna leak not long from now anyway.

  20. I guess it doesn't help that the last time I saw them was at a Warped Tour where they couldn't have any kind of theatrics or anything. I think the last time I saw them at a club show was in 2005, actually... haha, and I don't even remember if they were headlining it or not.

It's worth giving them another chance with Justin in the band now, and what seems like a refreshed band image/mindset

Yeah seriously Jeph screaming is one of the worst sounds I've ever heard in music lol

  23. For sure. I've been contemplating going to the show for this tour, mainly just for Glassjaw, but I'd like to see The Used again for nostalgia-sake, at least. It's been awhile. Plus, I need to wash out the bad taste from my mouth after seeing them the last time...

Just for comparison, this is the last time I saw them. The Jeph scream are still kinda dumb, but I really think everything else makes up for it

  25. I dunno... even that bummed me out, honestly. it's like watching a cover band butcher that song now, haha. I'm sure their newer stuff translates live MUCH better than their older stuff that they "have" to play but just can't pull off anymore because Bert's a different vocalist now. And what sucks for ME is that I haven't liked any of their albums since the second one. There's a song or two I like from the others, but everything else just isn't for me. I'm pretty intrigued by the new single though so I'm definitely interested in listening to the new album. I always listen to their new stuff that comes out because I have so much nostalgia for these guys, and memories with them personally, so The Used have always felt like more than just a band to me. I would love to LOVE a new Used album. Just waiting for that to happen again.
