Welcome Home isn't even the first song I think of when I think of Coheed, nor is it the first song I'd reach for when I want to listen to Coheed. And it certainly isn't the song point to as their best if I wanted to get someone into the band. Not a chance.

 

Perhaps. They make long albums that take a while to digest and process though!

5 seconds into either Semi Charmed Life or Welcome Home and a room full of people who’ve never heard of either 3EB or Coheed will be cheering and jamming along. They’re definitive tunes for both bands whether longtime fans happen to agree or not

I agree, it would be very unfair to show someone Welcome Home first, as nothing else really goes as hard or epic sounding as that.

A Favor House Atlantic was so fresh and unlike anything else I had heard when it first came out. I wouldn't even be mad if it won out. To me, it's easily their best pop song, with only Number City challenging it.

The first one and year of the black rainbow I've heard but havent returned to them much. Everything after year of the black rainbow I havent heard at all.

 

You are in for a treat. The 3 in-between their debut and Black Rainbow was their hot streak IMO. So good.

 

Those are the three I know and love haha. Its that ones after black rainbow that I dont know.

 

SSTB is great, hard to tell how much of that is nostalgia at this point though. YOTBR isn't their best, but it's worth a listen, and is far from bad, and has 4-5 terrific songs on it. Afterman and the new one are high points in their discog though, along with IKS and GA.
