Sarah Gless, writing about the typography of Stranger Things:

The opening to Stranger Things is pure, unadulterated typographic porn. With television shows opting for more elaborate title sequences (think GOT and True Detective), the opening of Stranger Things is refreshingly simple. It trims the fat and shows only what is necessary to set the mood. More importantly, it proves a lesson I’ve learned time and time again as a designer: you can do a lot with type.

My wife LOVES the opening. She works in computer graphics (spelling?) and design and I could tell the moment it was over she was mesmerized!!! As was I!

I just started watching this show last night. They absolutely nailed that 80's aesthetic, and I cannot get enough of it.

I like cryptozoology, music, and stuff.

Great article. Great show. Anybody know if the title was inspired by Stephen King's name? The layout is so similar. After looking at those book covers, I can't not see his name when I watch the opening credits.

If you enjoy the music of Stranger Things check out SURVIVE. Two members of the band scored the show. And if you dig that style in general, check out Magic Sword, and Lost Years. You won't regret it.
