Now to watch the ending. I wonder if there's a cliffhanger ala FC here. Can't really see anything topping THAT but it'll be interesting to see how it leads into 3rd.

 

Fun fact. All 3 games got an HD remake, also known as TiTS: FC/SC/3rd Evolution. Pretty sure these remakes were what the Steam ports were based off of.
Edit: went and looked up pics and vids and yeah it's the ports.

So my FC and SC were genuine OG PSP games. Non HD. Loaded up the version of 3rd and sure enough, it's Evolution! I am SO jealous of anyone who played the first two games as the Evolution port. Just based off how this already looks, I'm sure the first 2 weren't bad to look at.

It's like comparing a NES game to a PS2 game lol.

 

The Steam ports are not ports of Evolution.

Case in point: the Evolution remakes have Japanese voice acting, which I had to patch into my Steam versions.

I also see the Evolution versions have art that seems more in line with other Trails games, whereas mine did not.

 

Oh no? I just did a Google image search last night and some of the HD screenshots brought me to the steam page where it mentioned how the games were in 1080 so I just assumed "anything than the original PSP was Evolution" cuz those screenshots definitely didn't look what I just finished playing and looked more like 3rd.

 

I can't speak for the original PSP, but that screenshot is from Evolution, so if your character portraits for Estelle and Joshua don't look like that, it's not Evolution.

Plus the Evolution versions have HUDs made to be in line with Zero and Azure.

I don't know what the original PSP versions looked like.

Yeah, I did some reading and I guess there were some improvements in the porting from PSP to PC, but not Evolution.

Damn, now I kind of want to play the Evolution versions, but that would require Vita emulation, and I'm not ready for that.

 

Ah so maybe just porting to PC from PSP was just a HD port?

Yeah since I don't play on PC I ended up messing around with my Vita. That was like 2 years ago, and it wasn't too hard just a lot of step by step guides. I think I remember seeing a couple months ago you can actually hack a Vita through the web browser now so it's gotten relatively simpler. I DO think though, that IF we ever got new console ports of TiTS for the HD era it'd 10000% be the Evolution series.

 

I actually read some talk that they might want to do a full 3D remake in the style of Cold Steel.

Also, I just started 3rd....and the anime opening with all the familiar faces put the biggest smile on my face. This is gonna be fun! Even Pater Mater looks cool in HD!

I'm debating getting Boundless Trails and Trails Into Reverie to complete my set, but I dunno. It's still pricey.

 

I'm sure there will be plenty of sales in the future. I guess it just depends on how close to them you think you are.

Yeah from what I've been reading it's probably kuro 3. I guess new trilogy afterwards? Haha. I did also see this image floating around and damn there's a LOT of unexplored land huh.

A remake would be cool, but I wouldn't want it to take away from newer titles.

They should just port and localize the Evolution versions, and put them on Steam.

 

Yeah I feel most resources should be devoted to future titles. Let these be side projects. Like I said I'm playing the third game as an fan translation of 3rd Evolution and honestly it's fine. Just port these officially and I think the fans both new and old will be happy. The HD sprites and VA would fit nicely in the same space that Zero and Azure had.
