Saw this on a whim having never seen any old Toxic Avenger stuff (seems like a thing that could be my kinda thing).

Had a very good time with this. What a ridiculous romp.

 

The Troma ones are definitely an acquired taste. There is a charm to them but they are incredibly offensive and cross over into edgelord nonsense too much. They were cool as like an introduction into transgressive art when I was in high school, but they are always a bit too self aware for me to really dig in. Especially in the 80s when real psychos were churning out movies, the Troma flicks seem like a calculated version of them

 

There was a sequence in this movie where some rightwing terrorists took over a restaurant because it changed its logo from a man to a woman, which was so funny to see this week.

Seeing this at 12:40. So far I’m the only seat, which would be amazingggg.

lol I thought this rocked. all of the performances were so good, especially kevin bacon and peter dinklage. very fun, very silly, and full of dumb jokes that don’t land but whatever.

also fyi there’s a post-credits scene

 

I thought this was ok! The editing was wild and I feel like I was not keeping up with the movie pretty much the entire time lol

 

Lmao finally caught this - so much fun once it gets going. The off screen comments (e.g. “who’s going to clean this up?!” after toxie kills the band) we hilarious. Tremblay seemed like he didn’t know what kind of movie he was in though lol
