Solid list @ComedownMachine. It's nice to see a few people on the site (like yourself, @Craig Ismaili, @Youarcade) enjoying Dua Lipa's debut. I am absolutely obsessed with that album, one of my favourite pop debuts in years.
Great lists from everyone, I most closely align with @Zac Djamoos, but so many good choices & still a few I need to check out. My 10 as of today in no real order: Cigarettes After Sex A Will Away Souvenirs Hearts Like Lions Freddie Gibbs A.CHAL Kingdom of Giants Unwill Kendrick Lamar Slowdive For what it's worth, I really think the new Deafcult will make this list once I get to listen to it this week. My top 5 EPs in no real order: Amir Obè The Japanese House McCafferty Jefe Nine Shrines
I listened to a lot of stuff this year so far,but only a few really got to me. My favorite albums so far, in no particular order: Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - Modern Ruin Slowdive - Slowdive At The Drive-in - In.ter.a.li.a The Menzingers - After the Party Alt-J - Relaxer Jeff Tweedy - Together at Last Feist - Pleasure Rancid - Trouble Maker Albums that i'm really looking forward to listen to: The National QOTSA Manchester Orchestra
Albums I'm dying to hear that come out later this year: Mansions, Together PANGEA, Movielife, Arctic Monkeys (rumored), and The Bronx!!
Ha! Same age and same situation. After the Party certainly helps relate to where we are. Rather than looking back at my "twenties" like lyrically they do, I can look back to my teens/high school/college years and take meaning from that.
Could not agree more about After the Party. It was really easy to translate their memories of their experiences in their 20s to my memories of college. I thought the same about Much Love by Microwave, which came out last year. You should definitely check that one out if you haven't yet.
Tigers Jaw was just okay for me after the first listen. Middle of the road, reminds me of something I might have dug in high school but I feel like the genre has expanded a lot beyond the music they're making. It was pleasant, though
Came here for the list and came across an argument and user conspiracy theory lol. Was hoping to see more Hippo Campus love. Curious if people just don't know them yet or are legitimately not into them.
I definitely liked their album, it just isn't towards the top for me. Some of the tracks blended together for me, but, I don't usually listen to indie music like that. I have to be in a specific mood.
Surprised not to see Oso Oso on a single list. A lot of people on here would love it if they just gave it a chance.
That would indeed be quite the coincidence. Only way I can see it happening when they're not on the same network is if they're both using the same VPN service and connected to the same servers.
It dropped off for me pretty hard tbh. I still like it, but it's been a while since I've felt like listening
