circling back because i want to tell you you might potentially like this label comp, here's a couple of my fave tracks from it
Ha! Well I guess I should have looked that up...doesn't seem like it was that long ago? But thanks for the clarification.
That was in our 2015 top 10 on AbsolutePunk, so yeah, really wouldn't be appropriate to have it on here!
Well it was released October last year, so that's probably why it doesn't seem that long ago. Also, pretty sure I remember it being quite high up the AP staff list last year.
Maybe a little, but I went track to track with nothing really grabbing me to say 'listen to the whole thing.' Haven't gone back, but who knows if a different mood would help...
The new album? I dunno, they do so many different styles on there that it's hard to believe anyone wouldn't like a single song.
Eh not really. For me I've never finished a song by them I've heard either. Not cause it's like so horrible my ears couldn't take another second of it or anything but I didn't like what I heard of the songs and stopped them all before they were finished cause I'd rather listen to something else
Well again, they're just such a diverse band that it's really surprising to me that someone wouldn't find anything to like.
Every band is dislike by someone. It's really not an issue of dramatics or anything like that to me but idk. I've heard 3 of their songs and really disliked all of them so I've never cared to delve further.
The only thing I thought was dramatic was "couldn't get through a single song", it just sounded excessive to me. If you don't like the 1975 that's cool and everything, my only point is that they do so many different sounds so well (imo) that I think they appeal to a wider variety of people than the average band
Oh well I guess I don't think that's dramatic either. They hear a song they dislike and switch it off. Maybe the band does appeal to a wider variety of people but they can't please everyone and those people turning off songs they dislike before they end is kinda whatever.
Agree with a lot of what's in the lists, but a few of my other favourites include: - Astronautalis "Cut the Body Loose" - O'Brother "Endless Light" - Frightened Rabbit "Painting of a Panic Attack" - Vinnie Caruana "Survivor's Guilt"
I guess I still take the 'album' approach to when I try to listen to something new. If it can't grab me in the first 3-4 tracks, it's not likely i'll give track 9 a spin. If I like what I hear, and can get through a few listens of the whole thing, that's when I like to Shuffle it around for a different perspective. I can remember the days of going to my local record store, using my keys to open up the CD casing, and then starting on track 1 and that experience still resonates, even with digital albums...
I feel like too many songs repeat the chorus or some other part of a song far too much. Maybe it's always been this way and I'm just noticing it more now, but that's a big deterrent for me to be able to finish a song / album. Also, I pay way more attention to lyrics than most so that may be why I get bored / am unhappy with music more than most.
I think you might be the only person to include Architects, or one of the only people, but All Our Gods has become my obsession. It'll easily be one of my favorites of the year, but I compiled my top 10 before finally getting around to listening to it.
