I don’t know if its the second or third floor of my apartment building but today I learned that the sounds from one apartment weirdly very much carries into the stairways even though the hallways and when inside an apartment you can’t hear anything from anyone. And for two people in whichever apartment the noise is originating from, they are having a very Good Friday as the sound of them having sex is clear as day in the stairway.

I’ve lived in this building for about a decade and use that stairway at least twice a day and never heard anything in there before, but today I certainly heard things! Almost want to go back into the stairway and yell, “great work!” or something and see if they respond.

TIL: Float On by Modest Mouse stemmed from an inside joke in the band where they would jokingly jam a dance version of their song The World At Large. Eventually they decided to flesh it out and Issac penned lyrics to it and it became what we know it as today.

This is why the two songs segue on the album and also why both songs are in the same key and feature the same chord progression

TIL: The Violent Femmes’ self-titled album was certified platinum despite the fact it never hit any Billboard charts*

*The only time it ever charted was six months after it was certified platinum in February 1991 (which was almost 8 years after the album itself was released)

TIL Billy Mays hated Shamwow guy with a passion.

Also Billy Mays III lived in my hometown for awhile and we have a few mutual friends. He's ambient artist and I have seen his sets live a couple times. He's a cool guy.

I sort of learned this in the Absurdist Twitter thread, but then looked it up to verify.

Ciabatta bread wasn’t invented until 1982, which does feel way to late in the game to have created that kind of bread.

TIL: The cover of Wowee Zowee! by Pavement is an homage to the cover of the album Känguru by krautrock band Guru Guru. Stephen Malkmus was a fan and the artwork chosen for WZ! reminded him of Guru Guru

No idea how many season they have but just learned that Doctor Who is now on Disney+???? Hell yeah. Disney+ has gotten a lot of weird, unexpected stuff lately and while I don’t like that from a giant monopoly standpoint, purely from a laziness/greediness perspective it’s cool.

That is cool! I recently bought uno splash cause it's made to get wet and easier to disinfect and it came with a lil carabiner clip and after I bought it I forgot I had them clipped onto my belt loop like a boss cause my hands were full. Like imagine I just needed uno splash on the go so much I just walk around like that. I wish my life was filled with that much spontaneous uno.

TIL Dave Thomas regretted naming Wendy's after his daughter because of the pressure it put on her growing up, and wished he just named it after himself.

TIL: Leavenworth, WA (a popular tourist spot in the PNW that is notably a Bavarian village and draws big crowds during the holiday season/winter) was never actually a Bavarian town until the 1960’s. It was only rebranded as one in order to draw tourism as the town was economically in shambles

TIL of you have a funky smell in your microwave that won't go away from just wiping down the inside; what works is putting a mixture of water and either vinegar or dish soap into a bowl, and then microwaving that for about 3-4 minutes. The steam it creates will get rid of the smell.
