Was unsure giving the technical and cerebral subject matter to the two in charge of the GOT series in the first place, and the trailer doesn’t inspire too much confidence. However, I do like the scaled back and analog tech style they seem to be going for
I thought this was coming out in a week or two. Had no idea it wasn't until March. I might have time to re-read the first book then.
tbf, the book probably needs some adaptation magic to make it more palatable for film/TV. From what I understand the Chinese adaptation made a lot of changes too but it was still largely faithful. We shall see
Been a while since I read these (and it was early pandemic so I remember even less of it than I normally would). I think the trailer looks promising though. I'm trying not to take on too many new shows this year, but this one is a priority.
Looks like they did which is fine I guess but seems like in the westernizing of the story we are losing a lot of the Chinese influence. Granted it’s a two minute trailer so who knows.
Yeah, and some of the more hard-sci-fi concepts. Seems like they’re taking the approach with GOT of streamlining some of the harder elements for a mainstream audience
Highly recommend the tencent version of this. It’s quite long but it is a very good adaptation of the book.
Saw the first two episodes last night at an Alamo Drafthouse preview. I haven't read the books yet, but I started the audiobook this morning. My partner and I were both pretty into what we saw
Only read the first book and loved it. Won’t get to start the show for a little bit but it doesn’t look great.
gotta watch the Chinese tencent version. Very true to the book. Also dark forest is my favorite book ever. Pick it up.
