Yeah it kind of irks me that Star Tours is separated from the rest of the Star Wars stuff. I understand it would be a difficult task to merge ST to Galaxy’s Edge, but it would just make more sense…
I thought they would convert muppets courtyard to Star Wars expansion eventually that way it would all be connected together. Guess that's not happening now and it will be weird to have Monsters Inc now between 2 Star Wars areas
BAD they claim they're gonna preserve the film and somehow make it and parts of the attraction accessible to broader audiences (Disney+?), but i honestly don't trust them enough to do it in a way that doesn't feel shitty. cool that Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is getting rethemed though
Concept art for Monster Inc land looks like they are expanding it quite a bit and adding a new building two
I think I am pretty ok with this. I am more about Disney properly utilizing IP's than I am about treating old attractions like UNESCO World Heritage sites. As long as The Muppets are still getting love in the park I am fine with it. I am now wondering if they're saving Animation Courtyard for when Universal loses their Simpsons theme park rights (which should be by 2028 when the current contract runs out) or possibly saving it for the chance that one day Universal lets them have the east coast Marvel theme park rights.
Yeah this actually kind of best case for it. As much as it sucks that it’s going away, it’s great the Disney will still rep Muppets in at least one park. The Simpsons thing has me curious too. There’s so much potential
Based on the concept art it is looking like something is going in the theatre where Muppetvision is. I see some people speculation that they're moving the Laughfloor there.
Comparing this to what I am seeing in Google Earth, it looks like they're going to demolish a good chunk of the cast member parking behind Galaxy's Edge for the coaster ride building.
it doesn't look like it goes that far back from what i can tell, but that parking will definitely be impacted. upon first glance, i figured it might get pretty close to Starcruiser, lmao.
Baseline is across the street from where the land entrance gate is in this art. I think it'll be fine.
I love Muppetvision too and am sad to see it go too, but I don't know how many "Disney doesn't care about the Muppets and they're disrespecting The Muppets! hence why they're re-theming one of DHS's major flagship crowd eating E-Ticket attractions to The Muppets" takes I can stand today.
i think my frustration is less about the fact that MuppetVision specifically is going away (as much as i love The Muppets, it's never been a huge enough property for them to invest in at the same level as some of their other IP), and more so that it follows the same trend of shutting down another attraction that's been there since the early days of the park and replacing it with another based on a more relevant IP. i know they do it all the time, but it never feels great. and given the fact that DHS has transitioned from being a park primarily about the movies (as a concept) to a park about "our most popular movies", it's both unsurprising and disappointing to see another attraction go that felt more in line with that original concept.
