just booked an august trip (might try and get down there for a weekend before that lolol) but in august will be staying for 5 days at Saratoga springs, hopefully there are some after hours shit going on the week we are there
I stayed at Saratoga Springs one time and it was when Disney had to put us in a last minute room because we left our backpack (containing car keys) on the Skyliner and it broke down for like 4 hours or something lol. It was early on in the Skyliner days and we just happened to make that mistake during one of the longest shutdowns the buckets have had. But yeah they booked us in a suite for free and fed us and shit and it turned out to be one of my favorite Disney memories.
I do sometimes forget how much I love the Skyliner though and I often take it even when it’s not convenient or a part of my plans to park hop. I do that more than I hotel hop with the monorail anymore.
Had a blast at Sweethearts Night last night at the park. Cold, rainy, good vibes, and walk-ons to lots of rides (some were closed sadly). It felt like one giant party. Biggest bummer was Runaway Railway shutting down the moment we were set to get on, but we walked-on to a bunch of other rides, so I can’t be too upset. Kinda reminded me of pre-pandemic days of staying at the park late, which I miss. But I had so much fun. Hope to do it again sometime! Aside from having a memorable time with my wife, the three biggest highlights were: 1. Checking out Indiana Jone’s for the first time since the refurbishment. Super bouncy! Not to mention the queue said it would be a 45 min wait, but ended up being 10 2. Smuggler’s Run being a walk-on. 3. Going on Jungle Cruise in the dark and during pouring rain
Yeah, back in like 96. Me (left) and my younger brother on the Thunderbolt. Awesome wooden coaster. And then getting to ride the OG Steel Phantom was just wild. I think it was goat or lamb weekend the day we went? Something werid. Need to get back sometime...
went last summer and had a great time. not a huge park but some really solid rides. unfortunately steel curtain was closed for like half the summer and we visited during then.
I live like 30 minutes from it and grew up going. The steel curtain is never open. I went last year for the first time in over 10 years and was excited to ride that and it was closed for the rest of the summer.
