Got a little Shawshank Redemption piece on the forearm last night. Done by Michael Guiffre in Long Beach, NY.
Finally got the last piece to the right arm and now my double sleeves are done. All that’s left is touch up and some inner shading between. Love the last two. Elbow sucked, but wasn’t unbearable. the sun and the moon mandalas.
My girlfriend got me a gift card to a shop for my birthday. Looks like I finally have to bite the bullet and get my first one. I guess it's like the oldest continuously running shop in the country.
How thoughtful of your girlfriend to give you a gift card for your birthday! Visiting the oldest continuously operating tattoo shop in the country adds a touch of charm to your first tattoo. What tattoo are you planning to get?
@imthegrimace I'm doing great! How about you? I'm currently assessing whether I would take a chance in the new position being offered in our company.
Gotta come back in a few weeks to get the color done, but just got done with the black on this piece.
Watching seasons of Ink Master and i wonder how long the process of finding people (“canvasses”) takes. Especially when it gets towards the end and there are specific choices made by cast or judges. And some of these people come in with only a few tattoos and suddenly they’re getting 4-5 random tattoos over a day or two lol I assume most of these people are happy to get whatever since I’m sure it’s free and they’re then on tv for a few seconds but still kind of wild to me. A lot of these tattoos are NOT just small little $20 pop up shop tattoos
I'm afraid the new job is still not being offered outside the company yet, it's still a plan now. I'm sure you have a better job than that, @imthegrimace
I love watching Ink Master! The allure of being on TV probably makes it all worthwhile for them, even though I wouldn't mind being one of their canvases.
Dope. How colorful are you going to go? Looks solid so far. I'm one of those people that hates the shading / coloring more than the outlining.
just got my first tattoo yesterday. nervous about maintaining it right, I really want it to look good. I even got a little nervous when it looked smeared under the clear wrap but the Internet says that's normal
Very normal. What are you doing as far as aftercare goes? I usually do scentless soap, Aquaphor, and saranwrap. A lot of people now use Saniderm which is just a clear sticker you put over it.
Sandiderm all the way. Not need to wash it or worry about putting too much lotion or aquaphor on it and it’s basically healed after 5 or so days.
I did hand soap and A&D ointment until my new artist told me never to use that. Did saniderm with my last one and loved it
