Personally, I’d wait. But I also get hella paranoid about tattoo care so I dunno if I’m a proper gauge. I still haven’t gone back to the gym and it’s been just over a week since I got mine. I really need to work out tho lol. Also, made an appointment for mid September to finish my piece. Stoked!
I actually asked the lady at the place I would go today and she said as long as I get it by the end of this week it should be fine, so I have to decide if I want to make an appointment for this Friday or not. I'm actually getting pretty nervous... is that normal or is it a bad sign? lol
Perfectly normal! It's a permanemt decision and it can hurt like hell depending on what you're getting. Just got to focus on the fact that once it's done it's done.
I got my first tattoo in January. I didn't feel nervous at all until the day of. I felt a rush of panic wash over me as we were walking towards the shop. I legit wanted to cancel lol. But once it got going I felt a lot better and now I'm sooooo happy I got it and I want more asap haha. I think it's normal.
So... I’m wimping out for now. Just for now though. I figured there was no real point in cutting it so close to my trip, plus I didn’t really like the vibes of the place I went into (the lady who would be doing it for me was actually pretty rude lol) so I might try to find another place. Basically, if I’m on vacation wishing I had gotten it done, I’ll know that I really want it lol
i really should post in this thread more often but these are the last two i got in the past month or so.
It is indeed! All my tattoos are music based for the most part. The other two are in relation to Frightened Rabbit's Scott Hutchison. Also have a Smith's one as well as a Death Cab one.
Same. Fucking sucks. Made an appointment to finish mine in mid September so thankfully it’s not too long a wait
Getting something done next week already annoyed by how hot its gonna be. I need to stop getting tattooed in the summer.
Sandierm is a game changer but is it going to feel this awkward the entire time or should I get used to it? Might be the location too.
tangentially tattoo related: really rad mini-doc on Stephanie Boyce who has kind of made a name for herself in the traditional tattoo community here in NYC. she hangs out at some of the shops and does her own interpretation of classic designs, some people have even gotten them tattooed. Mark Cross, owner of Rose Tattoo in Williamsburg, befriended her a while ago and has given her a space to work as well as the occasional gallery show at his art space down the street from the shop. really, really heartwarming.
Spur of the moment walked into a shop and got this one thrown on me (Ribs are not a fun time). Also keeping in the tradition of music-related, this one is in lieu of this band called The Gay Blades.
It obviously sucked cause, well, it always sucks. But at the same time it was so much more bearable than I ever expected. I don’t usually get nervous getting tattooed anymore but I was pretty worked up going into this one. Going down the bone (which is where the tongue sits) was the worst part of it, but even then it was totally manageable. I don’t even think it was the most painful one I’ve gotten tbh. Everyone takes the pain differently, but for me it wasn’t noticeably worse than most other places I’ve gotten tattooed.
Also, I’ve started Tegaderm healing since my last one and it makes living life for that first ~7 days so much easier.
