Good tattoos ain't cheap, one of the only things I don't mind dropping money on cause I know it's going to come out great. You can tell I definitely trust my artist. It feels like almost once a day someone comments on my work.
I've had the same artist for the last 3 tattoos I got and we formed a good relationship and didn't need to discuss money cause I could kinda gauge how much. Like for my last tattoo I took out $500. He ended up charging me $400 for the tattoo and then I tipped him $100 cause he did some touch up work and has just been good to me in general so it worked out perfectly. I think I'll talk to this guy first about the piece I want and then talk money from there
Tattoo etiquette has almost been intimidating to me because we're dealing with someone's art. I've been fortunate to have been to super chill artists but I know that isn't always the case
I've wanted a half leg sleeve for close to 10 years and still have yet to get it. Mainly because I know it'll likely cost close to $1,000 and I don't have that kind of money for something like that
Haha I've definitely put in upwards of 2k on my body so far. Every time I add. I tell myself I'm done.. but st this point. Tat my whole body.
Lol, same. I want to be covered pretty much haha. I know people warn you about it but it is so addicting
It is. I told myself I'd never do my legs, but once I'm down with my second sleeve.. I think it's fair game haha. It's getting hard to come up with ideas tho. One thing I'll never do is my left foot.. the right was enough pain for the rest of my tattoo life.
Seriously, everyone says ribs are the worst. You've obviously never had the top of your foot done.. Ribs were a cake walk for me. My buddy went to my artist and got a Japanese water snake and cherry blossoms. Shin is definitely pretty painful he said.
That part of my body is very sensitive. I have this wack nerve and if it gets hit in the right spot it like twitches and kinda hurts. I'm super worried about getting tattooed there lol
That sounds uncomfortable. I've found that the less fat you have in said area makes it way worse. Once you get down to thin skin on bone, that's the fucked up part. On my foot, it literally only took 30 min max and I almost tapped out. I've sat for 4 hours before with breaks only for my artist to smoke. Then I asked him to touch up my foot bahahaha idiot I am.
So I don't think I've ever posted my rib piece. It's actually inspired by Brand New and the song Guernica.. Meant for my grandfather, who was a huge part of my life and up bringing. He passed away in 2014 so I got this for him. "Is this the way a toy feels when it's batteries run dry" is the main idea. Old pic, it's been touched up and added to since, but yeah. Probably one of my favorite, whenever someone sees it they remark on how unique it is. Then proceed to ask if I need new batteries.. smh.
I've been thinking about getting a larger tattoo for awhile now. I want it to go from about my collarbone down to my elbow. Here are some examples of tattoos I like and what I like about each. Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated. I like the softness, the colors used and more realistic look of the flowers. I don't like how crowded the flowers are tho. I'd like some spaces that still show some skin. I again like the realistic nature, the colors, and softness. I don't like how it's just small pictures of different groups of flowers. Fan of the leaves in this one. I'd never be brave enough to get one across my chest tho. I think the color combination in this one is awesome. And finally, this is the placement I want. Hopefully I can find a good artist in Chicago. Artist recs would be appreciated also.
how full of a sleeve are you thinking? like, more tattoo than skin on the region, or vice versa? cause if you don't have any tattoos yet, it might be a little intense to start out with a really big one, in terms of pain/skin care/cost/etc. i really like the realistic designs though! definitely try to find an artist who, like, does a lot of floral/photorealistic work so it looks the way you envision it. what kind of flowers are you thinking of getting?
pretty much the same coverage as the last picture. And I only have a couple small ones now. (one on my back, one on my ankle.) I like the look of peonies and roses with some smaller flowers and leaves to fill in. Hopefully the artist can help me come up with a good combination of what looks good together!
I'm so fucking happy that the first time I tried to get a tattoo the artist said no. Said he wouldn't do it cause it wouldn't age well and I am eternally grateful
And that last one definitely looks old and faded but still looks great Who is the reference artist, Adam Hughes?
The guy came up with it himself. He took elements from a few different things and used some Russian model he likes. lol
