I have the deathly hallows symbol and "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." I've thought about getting a Spraynard tattoo or an Into It. Over It. tattoo. I would love to get the Intersections artwork on my thigh but unfortunately that album isn't as important to me as some of his other stuff. I also want to get an outline of New Jersey with a star over my birthplace (Voorhees) and an outline of Pennsylvania with a star over Philadelphia. but I'm not sure where I would do those.
lotta geeky tattoos here, i can't say i'm super surprised but also didn't necessarily think that the Venn diagrams of "people attracted to a site named AbsolutePunk" and "people with niche video game tattoos" but here we are
Yep. Just as sweet as I anticipated lol Finally getting my first tattoo this saturday! Excited and nervous.
Yeah of course! There are four people in my immediate family. Dad, mom, older sister, and myself. We went through a 5 year period where it kind of felt like the entire universe was caving in on us, so it's pretty much always been us against the world. I also moved across the country from them, so I just want something a little extra to feel close.
Way more meaningful than I anticipated. That's rad though, I definitely know the feeling you went through, kinda going through the same at the moment. What a great concept, love it!
Thanks! I just wanted something simple. And I'm a strictly black ink only canvas, so simple stuff like that is pretty much what I lean towards for myself.
I've always to incorporate a puzzle/missing piece into my eventual Clue sleeve but can't ever figure out how and I'm no artist. Also glad that your 1st tattoo still has meaning to you, I fucking hate mine.
Is niche film tattoo more niche than niche video game tattoo? This one is my tattoo of the original poster art from Fritz Lang's M. And this is my Simba, which is on my calf. People seem to like this one.
@brandon_260 That Simba tattoo is awesome! I eventually would love to get something that references Mulan and Elsa without just getting Mulan and Elsa tattooed on me.
@iplaydrums Thanks! Film has become a huge thing for me in the last 5 years and Lion King is the one I have the youngest/fondest memories towards, so it was a no brainer. Yeah, I never wanted outright cartoon Simba or anything, so this was the perfect design for me. I feel like it would be cool if you could get someone to interpret Mulan in a way that mirrors traditional Chinese artwork. Though I'm not entirely opposed to traditional/original cartoon design because I've been contemplating Tommy Pickles since before I even got my first one done.
@brandon_260 My fear with that is that it would approach disrespectful/appropriation territory and I'm trying to stay away from that. I was thinking maybe a snowflake with a sword inside of it possibly? I think there are probably a lot of options, I just have to sit down and think them over
My girlfriend wanted something very similar -- her favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast, so she wanted a tattoo inspired by the movie that wasn't literally just Beauty and the Beast. She ended up going with the Enchanted Mirror from the movie along with some roses and I love how it turned out.
too poor to have all the tats i want, but the one i do have is just text, in the middle of my back. it's a verse from the poem "you shall be my roots" by mark z. danielewski "for i will shelter you. and i will comfort you. and even when we are nothing left, not even in death, i will remember you."
I've got a good 17 or so but I'm a fan of more simplistic black pieces rather than full sleeves or detailed colour pieces (I adore them too but not necessarily on me, I like to see and appreciate that kind of work on others a lot though. I like the "sketchbook" look). This is the latest couple on my upper right arm (in a shoddy photo):
Yeah I can't imagine ever getting anything in color. Mostly for the logistical reasons of the time and money, but I also just don't see it on myself
It's all about how your skin holds color as well. I know some people have to get color touched up every couple of years and others never have to.
i want to get the Illuminate cover on my left foot and the illustration of the boy hugging the Giving Tree on my right foot that i might want colored very faintly. other than that yeah most of my envisioned designs are words or minimalist so color's not really a concern
Color on the feet likely won't last long, mainly due to the fact you use it alot, unless you plan to never wear socks or shoes again
