Same could also be said if the art is really shitty too, repping some shitty art hahahaha. But I understand your point and agree.
Yeah my mom has said similar but she would still be bummed. Then again I released a song that says "Joseph Smith's a fucking liar" so I think she's dealt with it all at this point lol. Mine wont be to make a statement. One is just three words that I want on my wrist and then the deflated heart balloon from Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak. Very important album that has shaped my taste and me as a person. Maybe some day haha.
I probably didn't phrase it correctly, but I do think if you're getting a tattoo that is going to be visible most of the time, you should expect people to inquire about it and be able to talk about it. I don't know man, it's like music or paintings. It should cause a reaction, an emotion, or conversation. Something. When people create paintings or do cool logos, there is usually something behind that decision. I am totally down with @Colby Searcy getting Jesus riding a dyno. That's pretty funny to me. He probably has a story of how he came up with that. I'd guess he didn't wake up, think the idea up, and do it in one afternoon. Maybe he did. I'd also guess he didn't see Jesus riding a dyno on any wall in the shop either. It was his design. I just sort of question the motive of going into a shop and just picking something on the wall. Wouldn't you rather take inspiration from that design on the wall? Like say, "hey, I love that shading or the way that artist drew that bear on the piece hanging up. I have an idea and think those techniques could fit with what I am doing". I don't know, different strokes I guess.
I get what you're saying, and all my tattoos mean something to me, but I also don't see anything wrong with just wanting something that looks cool. I think of it like clothes -- you wear things of a particular style just because you think they look good without any deeper meaning attached. Tattoos are just permanent clothes/accessories, basically.
I mostly agree there, but tattoos are permanent. I mean they can be removed but it's quite the physical and financial burden. And if you are getting them where most do, people will see them and mostly likely react to them. If the only motive was that it looks cool, I feel that is just temporary. Is that tribal sleeve really going to look cool when you are 80 and wrinkled? At least if there is a story and thought, those things will last and stick with you. Jyncos at one point looked cool. Not so much anymore. People change over time, so even if the tattoo may not be something you'd get several years down the road, at least there is something cool attached with it (a story, a memory, some thought, idk). I don't approach tattoos from the idea that they are cool though, and so that may be a fundamental difference between us haha.
Actually I just found an image of Jesus on a Dinosaur in a book at a bookstore that I worked at. Google image searched for one I liked and thought was cool and took that pic with me to the shop. So while I didn't pick something off the wall of the shop, it's still essentially a flash tattoo.
Not sure if this has been brought up yet, but I figured I'd ask since we're getting close to the next one. Does anyone have any Friday the 13th tattoos?
Hi everyone, my girlfriend and I are planning a trip to America for my 30th birthday next year and I'm hoping to get a sleeve done while I'm out there. We live in Scotland but I thought it would be really cool to get my next tattoo over in the U.S. I think I will be looking to have it done in New York, is there anyone on here who lives/been to New York and has had a tattoo(s) that could recommend a really great place to go to? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Haha, well I haven't fully decided yet but I have plenty of time as I'm not going to America until next September. At the moment I already have a tattoo on my left arm (which will be the arm I'm adding too) it's the album cover from a Wilhelm scream's Ruiner. I got it a few years back when travelling Australia. I managed to catch them at a show in Sydney and when I was in Thailand I got the tattoo and for ages I have wanted to add to it, I'd show you a picture of it but I don't know how you upload photos from iPhone on here.
If you have a 6 or higher do as said above. If not what I do is just copy the photo from my images and paste it typically and it works for me. That option isn't available on the 5 or before.
Thanks guys. I've tried copy and paste before but the picture hasn't showed when I click paste? Or would it only show when you hit "post reply"?
I've tried turning my phone sideways but I just get a side bar with my history/bookmarks/etc. Appear on the left. When I click on "more options" it just has "follow thread" and "email notifications for this post"
Hit "more options" next to "post reply" and then turn your phone sideways. There should be a paperclip icon that allows you to upload photos and various other files.
Thanks. I've managed to get it sorted now. I got rid of the sidebar with bookmarks by clicking the bookmark symbol at top of page and now it lets me see paper clip etc. This was my tattoo I was talking about, just need to think of what to add to it.
Haha. The photo came up next to (choose file) but it never added to the post. Close to giving up now haha.
