Okay, I’m in. First movie was okay at best. This is looking better.

 

First one was quite bad but ugh of course they got me again

 

Yoshi is cuter than I ever could have imagined and the fire suit upgrade scene was straight fire. I'm so in.

Agreed on Yoshi, also fuck yes to Frog Suit and Birdo.

So weird to think of all these years Mario just kind of rubbing the Fire Flower and absorbing(?) the power instead of straight up eating it like I always assumed.

 

Holy fuck, can't believe I didn't spot Baby Mario and Baby Luigi at the end there!

People didn’t like the first one? I thought it was great

 

Most people liked the first one aside from critics and cinephiles

 

It was a kid/family movie and was a good/fun one.

 

It was ok. It was pretty bland. I can’t recall how many needle drops it had, but there was one that was so painfully awful to me. It was either the kart scene or the one where Mario gets to that land. I haven’t rewatched it since theaters, so forgive my memory here. But it was a scene where Mario is traveling through this visually cool area and it was drowned out by some stupid pop song vs Mario music. Just awful.

 

Yeah, I think you’re talking about the training sequence when they play “Take On Me” by A-ha.

 

Yeah if I had a major complaint it would be the overuse of licensed songs. Hopefully they keep it more to Mario related scores in this one and not radio hits.

The orchestra for Galaxy is good enough

 

The more I thought about it, that song came to mind, so I’m sure that’s it. I just don’t get who that’s for. No kid cares about A-ha. Sure, parents will taste the memberberries, but is that really it? Just bizarre.

 

The first Mario movie was fun as hell, I don't need amazing writing out of a children's movie lol
