I actually don't have a problem with Pratt's voice, if only because there's not enough to go on to make a judgment. It doesn't feel off to me though, and I don't have any attachment to Mario needing a high-pitched exaggerated Italian accent. Movie looks great visually. I kind of feel like it's a mistake to do an origin story though, like they're clearly doing.
The “here we come” should have had a bit zest to it. Some stank, if you will. But it’s just Pratt’s normal voice. Lame.
I don't mind Pratt's voice because I imagined something MUCH worse before the trailer. Black's voice with Bowser is fantastic.
Forgot to check this teaser out yesterday! Art direction looks fantastic. There was truly not enough Mario dialogue for me to form any sort of opinion on the Pratt voice. Cautiously optimistic about this actually being good!
I still cannot believe Pratt landed both Mario and Garfield, along with already was the voice of the LEGO guy. It's not like he's some versatile voice actor.
If you listen closely it does sound like he’s trying to do something with his voice other than just being Chris Pratt.
Teaser was very cool. I am legit excited for this since they already threw in some more obscure characters.
As tone deaf as actors and the other people that sign off on this stuff can be, I have to imagine that in 2022 they know Chris Pratt just doing a flat Chris Pratt will not fly with audiences. The voice might not wind up being good but guarantee he gives it a little juice All that to say man it’s gotta be so frustrating to be a voice actor and watching your profession continuously trampled by A-listers that saw a 7 figure number on a contract and went “yeah I guess I can do that, sure”
Yeah I wish they would hire people who actually know how to voice characters than just big A listers with name power but that’s what’ll sell tickets and drum up publicity both good and bad. You’d think the name Mario would sell itself but nah jack black sounds fantastic though but he was born to do stuff like this
I like the theory that like him and Corden saw an executive commit vehicular manslaughter and didn't say anything
I honestly don't think Pratt moves the needle that much for getting people to see this movie. Who are the people that don't really care about Mario but love Chris pratts voice enough to sway them to see it. Gotta be minimal lol.
I think the character I'm most interested in hearing is Peach, because I have absolutely no idea what kind of tone they'll go for with her.
You would be surprised how many people only give a shit when someone they know or like is involved. Like to the average American a Mario movie is eh but a Mario movie with Chris Pratt?! He’s in the marvel movies! Nice!
I mean really nintendo can use any technology they can get their hands on to determine whether or not putting Chris Pratt in their movie is worth the money and they obviously came up with a Yes using whatever measure they use to determine that which again, it’s nintendo, I’m sure they got some crazy algorithms
Pratt is also a recognizable face to get on to the press and talk show circuit for publicity. I guess Mario can't sell himself like a Minions movie yet.
