The odds of this being good* go up significantly if Mario & Luigi have egregiously bad accents. * I of course mean “good” the same way I mean it when I talk about YouTube videos of people playing Mario Maker hot garbage levels.
Even before Pratt joined, I thought for sure they would know to keep Mario silent (other than the typical “wahoo” kind of sounds). Fucking hell this is the studio they made multiple movies with characters that speak gibberish.
I mean… I hate discussing a Mario movie through the lens of actual serious filmmaking, but like, you gotta have Mario talk in a Mario movie, lol.
I never knew Dwayne Johnson would be the perfect Ganondorf until now. I’d cast Hemsworth as Captain Falcon, not Link.
Y’all forgetting an Englishman played Mario and a Puerto Rican played Luigi in the vastly underrated live action film
Mario one liners periodically, thats how I would like it. A Mario soliloquy will suck the life out of me for the day.
HOWEVER, Mario says not one word in a very dialogue driven Super Mario RPG. He just jumps when people ask questions and it was very endearing .
I feel like a movie where Mario is a silent protagonist would just make me want to leave the movie and play one of the games.
this and Bob Hoskins are the only speaking Mario's I would have accepted, and they both died along with any hope for this planet
Just a friendly reminder that she didn't play Peach, she played Daisy, because when your movie only has the barest tangential relation to the source material, who gives a fuck which princess you're using.
Ah, I didn’t remember that and just assumed it was Peach. Odd that they went with Daisy, but like you said, the movie didn’t care too much about source material.
What movie are you all talking about? I can’t seem to remember any Mario film that has Mario and Luigi sucked into the hollow earth that looked like a 80s glam metal city and Yoshi looked nothing like Yoshi. Doesn’t ring a bell. I don’t think such a movie exists to me.
Realistically the only way you can make this decent is to go the Sonic route and have the first be mostly conventional with Mario lore as the flavor. I feel like Nintendo is going to be too protective of the license to have anything as endearing as the Jim Carrey dance though.
