the killing lies -> 15 minutes stretch. other than that I feel like it’s filled with tons of their best songs. I was actually super hyped that last time I saw them (2016) they played 6 songs from it
Were you at Govball? That was the last time I saw them and I was shocked at how much of First Impressions they played!
I was at Governor’s Ball too!! I live in San Francisco but flew to NYC to go with a friend. I stayed put for multiple sets from Beck and one other to see Strokes pretty close up and it was incredible. I damn near cried when they played Electricityscape. Too bad the rest of that weekend went to absolute HELL after. Also; Killing Lies, Fear of Sleep, and 15 Minutes are not bad songs. Far from it - I actually like them. However, I do agree that those songs could have been cut for a stronger record. I think having them as b-sides for a deluxe release would have been the better move.
I’m tempted to ask but don’t wanna clutch my pearls since I don’t think there’s one bad song off Earth.
While I don’t agree with any of these picks - I can wrap my head around the last three... ... but On The Other Side and Vision of Division?!?! You wild. Not only are those songs incredible but they’re two of my top favorites.
The Strokes did concise on their first two albums. I dig that their third album was almost pushing an hour.
I think there’s a reason it markedly was the end of the first era of their sound - and it took them 6 years to follow it up. and it didn’t review as well. Idk personally it always felt bloated and a little tired to me
Angles is my least favorite if I have to pick one but I think they've been remarkably consistent, even when they've changed their sound. I don't really think there's a large gap in quality between any of the albums
Agreed. They're real consistent when they want to be. They'll just disappear for years on end. Hopefully when this all clears up they'll tour this album pretty hard because I'd love to see these songs.
