I know this was probably an extreme example considering the only reason I saw it was because it’s sort of picked up a lot of attention on social media, but I just watched that whole pronoun/safe space scene that aired on Landman last week and sheesh. Quite embarassing to write something like that let alone air it
This show is nuts lol One of those things where I see it coming and am like "like no way they're going this route. It's too dumb" and then they actually do it. Kinda respect it.
Paramount has really cornered the ant- pc tough guy cowboy crowd market between Taylor Sheridan making a new show every two weeks and purchasing the ufc evets
Paramount+ is essentially just copaganda/legal procedurals, Taylor Sheridan shows, and Star Trek at this point. everything i cared about watching from them ended or was cancelled a long time ago, and i have physical copies of the things i really want, lest they wipe it from their systems for a tax break and/or fund more copaganda (since Taylor Sheridan is leaving, i'm not expecting more from him unless it's another Yellowstone spinoff).
I have Paramount+ because they repeatedly give me the $1.99/mo. deal every time I go to cancel. But it really is the worst app in terms of selection and functionality. Also how most of anything worth watching is behind the additional Showtime paywall. Gotta just cancel it next time
Yeah I was a longtime subscriber to Paramount+ but I unsubbed awhile ago and don't see a reason to go back. Besides Star Trek I think Yellowjackets was the main thing that kept me for so long.
i stuck around for Evil, Broad City, and any A24 films that Showtime had the rights to. the first two are done now and now HBO gets all the good A24 films, so it's pretty much a useless service for my purposes (and the app was incredibly buggy on my set-top box).
They did have a lot of potential with that massive Comedy Central stand up library, all the classic Nicktoons, and all their MTV IP, all the live music stuff they have, but I don't think they utilized what they had properly. They shit the bed with Star Trek Discovery so bad that a lot of people won't even give the other new Treks that are not as bad a chance because of it.
it's funny though because Comedy Central still has a decent presence on other apps like Hulu and HBO, iirc. and Paramount has really latched onto Netflix as a good partner for Nickelodeon-focused content. they know that if they only put it on P+, people would probably be less-likely to watch it because it's still considered a lesser streaming service, but by throwing it on other platforms, there's less of a reason to subscribe to P+. i'm not a Trekkie, but i know the reception to P+ Star Trek content has been pretty mixed overall, so unless they can establish one of their shows as must-watch TV, idk how much perceptions would change to boost their subscriber base
Yeah every time I try to leave Peacock they are like wait we’ll give you six months for $5 total and even if I watch one movie on there in 6 months it justifies it
Just add “libtard” to the end of that sentence you have a universal tagline for all those Taylor Sheridan shows
