17 days is diabolical. a fucking one-night showing of the Stranger Things finale made them over $20 million, so there's obviously money they could be making with theatrical, but they'd rather hedge their bets on charging you as much or more than the cost of a ticket to keep rewatching it every time. can only hope for a miracle to keep a longer window
Also currently watching Netflix's doc on the Ruby Franke case. Have watched like 3 other docs on this, but I like this one. A lot more focus on the actual investigation into the abuse. Also a lot more focus on Jody Hildebrand instead of Franke and her YouTube show.
This whole anti-cinema rhetoric from streaming services is absolutely nonsense, just my local cinema alone has proven that people will come out in their droves even for a re-release. I myself saw 120 films at the cinema during 2025, 40 of which were re-releases and those that were rewatches were infinitely more enjoyable at the cinema than they had ever been at home.
Actually I went 3 times this year. Which is more than the 0 times I went since COVID. I still hate going to the movies though
Ah yes, I am a pathetic loser for avoiding theaters when everyone in these forums were constantly posting articles about people getting sick at super spreader events and family parties lol
people have been going back to the theaters with very few reported cases of outbreaks from the theater dating back to 2023. im not saying go to a sporting event at a stadium lol. they aren't the same things.
"i still hate going to the movies though" methinks concern over super spreader events isn't the issue here
Movies theaters and auditoriums are still pretty big but whatever haha I'm not going to go on about how this site, and the politics thread in particular, took my hypochondria to a whole new level
Agree, which is why I try to only go in there a few times a week now instead of refreshing it several times a day lol
