The Hitchcock parts of Gein are interesting at least. I kinda wish this show was just Tom Hollander as Hitchcock making Psycho without all the other stuff.
There are some problematic sexual and gender identity stuff going on in Ed Gein that I don't even know if I want to think about to try to unpack more. Really seeming like Murphy is implying Gein had autogynephilic gender dysphoria (sexually fetishized the thought of himself as a woman). Similar kinda offensive shit that was in White Lotus season 3. Plays upon tropes about trans people that are dangerous especially right now.
lol not against that, but also haven't noticed it as an issues in a couple years. Used to be wild how different the volumes were from commercial to commercial and the actual show.
Amazing, literally had that problem yesterday with my son watching Bluey, every time a commercial was about to play I jumped up to get the remote in time, literally twice the volume or more (YouTube TV)
It's......not a good sign when I have to turn on subtitles 10 minutes in because I can't understand the main character. I'll give it one episode, I had somewhat decent expectations for this but if I'm already like ehhhhhhh then I dunno.
The flash forwards later on about stuff that Gein influenced are interesting, but the actual Gein stuff is bad.
I just noticed Ryan Murphy isn't listed as co show runner with Ian Brennan, like the past two seasons did.......so if this is bad do we credit him for bringing his flair to the first two seasons and him being what made them good? Cuz I actually enjoyed the first two lol.... Hm interesting.
Yeah I'm looking forward to the Hitchcock stuff, that was one of the things I found intriguing that the show would cover.
Yeah my bad for quoting that lol, I thought I was on the most recent page and it was the bottom of the page and was like huh, is this new doc? Oh well, I guess she won't have a career in that lol.
