I switched from using my organic smart tv apps to just using my PlayStation to stream, and it's so much better. Especially for live streaming stuff. No more buffering when i'm watching wrestling.
this is the big reason why, despite my new TV having Google TV built in, i still plugged in my Google TV Streamer as an HDMI device
I also switched from my smart TV apps to Amazon fire because @digitalsea is a boss and gave me the rundown, everything plays way better now
I have my 11 year old PlayStation 4 hooked up to a secondary tv just for streaming and it runs so incredibly slow
I switched it up because I had to do a hard reset of my tv and for some reason my Vizio wouldn't accept my Disney+ setup codes. It did on PS though.
i know this is the streaming thread but liek, what do yall do for physical? i'm pretty sure a ps4 can play bluray discs, right? i bring/watch movies at friends' places a lot so i have a portable external bluray drive for my laptop, which i hdmi to my/their tv. a smart tv isn't gonna need a separate box for streaming, and i think a streaming box to use with older tvs isn't always gonna come with a disc reader. having a game console, a streaming or cable box, and a dedicated disc player seems excessive and old fashioned.
Living room for us has a PS5 for Blu-ray/4K and an Apple TV for streaming. Secondary tv has the PS4 for streaming and Blu-ray (but won’t play 4K)
I have a blu ray player I got for $30 at Walmart like 12 years ago. Works great except when it doesn’t want to open.
