My wife and I started Northern Exposure. We had to get the DVDs from the library, since it’s not streaming because of rights issues with all the music. Only on episode two, but it feels like Twin Peaks, without the supernatural and murder mystery. A young doctor from New York goes to a small town in Alaska. The quirky characters in the town and their drama are growing on me already. The humor is good too. I can tell it’s going to be a cozy show.
I started that years back but stopped a couple of episodes in. I enjoy it and I’m not sure why I stopped. Need to finish it some day.
Rewatched The Wild Robot last night. Can't believe that in the last month, I cried from a frigging robot and a rock lol
I missed the Wild Robot despite really wanting to see it, but it's back in theaters starting June 8th so I plan on catching it then
Oh sweet Amazon dropped every episode of Spider Noir at once. Can't remember the last time I've watched something on there that has done that... Feel like they are usually week to week with maybe 2 episodes for a premiere?
90's TV quirk humor inspired by Lynch was a whole vibe. Northern Exposure definitely had it. A lot of X-Files lighter moments had it. Adventures of Pete & Pete was basically Lynch for kids.
Did the first couple eps of Spider Noir, very good balance of detective mystery and superhero shenanigans so far. And of course as you can tell by my current avatar I fell in love with Li Jun Li's character instantly.
I wasn’t gonna comment but since it was brought up again. I saw some stuff online about how he’s very pro Palestine and another star on the show is not. However it could also be social media nonsense.
Not the point here but all coverage of Gaza being framed as “differing views” on genocide will never not be insane to me.
A movie called A Foggy Tale (大濛) just released on Netflix internationally. It’s my favorite film of 2025. I went to the theater 5 times to watch it and also showed it to my brother and one of my friends while they were visiting me. They both really enjoyed it. Quite an emotional film with some great set pieces. A solid entry point for anyone interested in the development of Taiwanese identity and the cruelty people faced under the Chinese Nationalist Party. It also won best film in the Golden Horse Festival. I wholeheartedly recommend it
