Spun the live album today. Proper Dose songs blend in nicely with the rest of their old stuff while still sounding like a progression considering next year is 10 years since Under Soil and Dirt

I haven't listened to this album much since 2018 but it's for sure one of the better albums of the genre to be released within the last 5 years.

Interesting post on Sam Pura's Instagram about the anniversary.

Is there known information behind that? Why he was so disillusioned with the process?

I know that Pura and TSSF are no longer on working terms, don't know much more beyond that.

Perhaps the relationship between the band and him began to suffer after 4 albums and 2 eps. I can imagine feelings of repetition could grow in that.

Super sad and an overall bummer to read. I know he wasn’t stoked with the single choices as it didn’t properly represent the album (fair) but also - not his call. I believe they also had another producer who worked on this as well.

I wonder who they’ll go with on the next record?

Listened to this on a run today. My favorite “goodbye summer” album. So many great songs.

Love Sam Pura's work, but I feel like he's had not so nice things to say about every one he works with. After doing two of Basement's albums, he definitely seemed salty about not being asked to do the next one, and he trashed the album. And when The Dangerous Summer went with a different producer for their upcoming EP, he again took to the internet to make it seem like the band did him dirty.

Who knows the story with all three scenarios, but it does seem odd.

  11. Sam seems like a very emotional person who just wants to get the very best he can out of the bands he works with. They’re his friends, not just his clients. He pushes for ultimate greatness and he is fully invested in each project, which definitely can make things difficult in the studio, I’m sure. And even more difficult when a band doesn’t immediately come back to him for their next record.

Interesting post. 8+ years will do that to ya especially in the pop punk world.

On a brighter note; Sam did the new Hundredth record which sounds great!

On a darker note: this band's frontman is in a side project with a well-known rapist

Why do you (anyone in here actually) feel comfortable talking about a band who is CURRENTLY working with a rapist?

Oh i would neve follow this thread so there's nothing to unfollow. It just really bothers me to my core that this band is buddies with a rapist and a member of the band is currently working with him in a side project. So I post about it.

Actually AJ from TDS is commenting on that post and Sam and him seem cool.

Maybe Sam has the same issues with Parker that some people in this thread do? Could definitely sour his feelings on the band.

I feel like everyone in this thread probably has issues with Parker being in a side project with a rapist, right? I don't think that's just "some people in this thread".

At least, I really hope it isn't.

Well I mean, it doesn't seem like everyone does, let's be honest.

I don't think I can be honest with myself about that one. I pretty much have to convince myself that can't possibly be the case.

People have every right to continue to bring up problematic things with a band in their thread just as much as you have the right to discuss the band/their music. If you're not cool with that, maybe you should unfollow.

What side project are we talking about? Can I please get more info? If true, that’s super fucked and definitely changes my opinions on a band I’ve always been skeptical of.
