My annoyance is not only with how terrible Harry is, but also with the fact that time and time again men will choose to continue working with abusers/shitty men/their bros instead of, you know, the tons of other musicians (including women, musicians of color, marginalized musicians, and LGBT musicians) out there who aren’t abusers.

 

That’s the problem!!! Totally agree. So many voices and people out there that you can work with and elevate

Also wasn't even my point, I brought that band up because those were the two bands I would always go to bat for on this site despite their shitty behavior.

Really thought this forum was past playing “gotcha” with post histories to feign moral superiority but I guess not!

 

I’m confused as to what calling me out for making a joke to a poster I’ve had years of conversation with brings to the table? I’ve been outspoken about HC and JJR (and this band and basically the entire scene associating with them) for going on a decade. No moral superiority, just pointing out hypocrisy if someone is attempting to “get” me for referencing blink 182

Once again, huge thanks to The Wonder Years and everyone over at Pure Noise for staying silent and actively attempting to silence people speaking out! I’m glad you guys didn’t have to “burn any bridges”! Cancel culture surely does exist

 

What bothers me so much is how The Wonder Years play all high and mighty and they're a really outspoken band but they're just as guilty of holding up abuse. Everyone is complicit.

 

Dan seems like a good dude, I guess, and the murmurings were that the whole JJR thing caused a pretty big rift in the band because some wanted him fired and the others are (still, check social media) his friends.

But yeah, attempting to maintain that friendship or to play nice and stay silent directly allowed this to happen

 

It must really suck for the survivor to see their abusers career go largely unscathed. It must really suck for the survivor to see musicians in the scene like Parker (who has a lot of clout in the scene) continue to give this piece of shit a career. It must be awful for her to see people like JJR who defended Harry to death continue in this scene without any issues. I hope she’s doing okay.

 

Apparently some people have been calling out Harry on his post he made today on Instagram about the new band and he's been deleting those comments, because of course he is. Hasn't changed one bit all these years later.
