Yeah that was a really open and honest interview, great insight. Pretty much any criticisms I’ve had for this band were addressed by him in there. Glad he’s doing better.
Honestly a really good interview. Suprised ish to kind of see that this band is making these dudes a lot of money though. Good for them
There’s like 4 songs off the album already out. Not sure why you’d need more new songs at this moment. I’ll take an interview of a person addressing their mental struggles over talking about track 5 of a new album. It’s his first interview in nearly 5 years, explaining exactly why he is how he is. I’m not a mega fan of this band, but seeing him address pretty much every criticism I could have is pretty genuine and honest. Diving deep into his mental health isn’t a joke. I don’t admire him, but I definitely respect this interview.
you are? they're like the only pop punk band of their generation that like, sells. sold out a 3700 cap venue in LA. I would say The Wonder Years are the second biggest band of that 'wave' but its like, just them. and TSSFs a bit ahead because TWY wasnt selling out venues that size on their last tour.
He’s not obligated to, but I wish Parker would have acknowledged his public criticisms/controversies more directly in the Kerrang piece. Glad he seems to have found a better headspace, but it still doesn’t really show him taking responsibility for his questionable actions in the past. Would’ve been a great opportunity to do so. Obviously the point of the article is to promote the record so I get it, but the dude is far from vindicated here, even if he bravely opened up about his debilitating drug addiction. Also I’ll reserve judgement until I hear the full record, but that piece is reeeeally hyping this record up to be some drastic sonic change for the band and I severely doubt that will actually be the case, even after hearing the songs released so far
Yeah, the writer mentioned the incident where Parker kicked that person off the stage but there was nothing in the interview about it at all. Kinda shoddy journalism.
Don’t think TSSF are hurting financially if they’re charging 30 bucks *before fees* for tickets on this tour
Hopefully they get a new audience with this album but I think they’re in for a flop. Parker should have addressed those situations in the interview but he only addressed the toll it took on him. If he stated that he was trying to reconcile his past actions and his personal struggle with trying to change who he is as a person as a result, that would address it. But the interview goes more along he lines of him dealing with the fallout of growing older and the disconnection from his youth.
The album might flop, but it will not be because of those instances. I don't think it will though. These are fans that have seen the transition succeed with Title Fight, Turnover, TWY to an extent, Real Friends, etc, and I think people expect this to happen. I think it would be a bigger flop if it was another run of the mill pop punk album.
Right! The writer mentioning it alongside Parker discussing his dark journey with drug addiction really creates a false sense of acknowledgement/accountability. He focuses a lot more on his own struggles than the effect his struggles have had on others. And like I said, the guy doesn’t owe us anything — but it absolutely speaks loads about his character to not understand, or even appear to care about the difference between those two concepts.
I have been really into these new songs. I’m really liking the direction they took with them. Anyone know if the rest of the album is like the songs released? I sure hope so. It would be a nice change for them. Plus, they actually pull it off.
Sam Pura said that the singles aren't the best representation of the rest of the album. I'm still expecting a good amount of songs like Let it Go and Out of It.
