This always devolves into someone talking about policing what people do in their private lives. I understand (from experience) that having someone who is a piece of shit in your life is not as cut and dry as completely excommunicating them. The difference is allowing that person a platform to continue to harm, which is what those bands did. There is a difference between hanging out with JJR because he’s your childhood friend even if he is a fuckup and having him on stage or bringing him on tour or allowing him to use his relationship with your fame and power to manipulate and silence people.
I'm not disagreeing. I'm saying they're always gonna give their homies platforms. Sucks but it should surprise anyone
100% I wasn’t implying that you were. I just know the nature of these conversations enough to know that some freak will come in with that rebuttal
I agree with this, which is why the only thing I had an issue with was dragging TWY who fired him and haven't worked with him since.
Oh okay yeah wasn't sure lol I don't think we could shame anyone for continuing a friendship but there's a difference between that and platforming them, obviously.
Yeah I mean idk the full story aside from the bits and pieces of direct examples I have from the band members. I am of the opinion, though, that throwing around their band (and the other bands) as a way to silence people would probably cause me to stop palling around with that dude immediately. that’s why this always riles me up so much. It was happening on the site. The band was legitimately feeling the pressure, to the point of band members talking to people calling them out on their silence, and then it just faded away. I truly think if more people were pissed off or pushed, something could have happened. Which is why I get so relentless about it on here. The idiots saying that we are not/can’t make a difference or whatever don’t realize how many eyes were (and some still are) in these threads.
It’s also a relatively small community lol. Maybe not when you get to Blink or All Time Low’s level but TSST or Fireworks? Absolutely pressure can be applied.
yeah, we're done with this guy. and as petty as it sounds I'm glad people are talking about TWY and Fireworks in this thread because as much as I've enjoyed those bands in the past, they absolutely deserve to be brought up here. Sorry if that bums anyone out but they made their beds.
Looks like a fun show. I am sure the guitarist from Man Overboard can’t believe his luck landing a spot in TSSF.
I'm really enjoying this after a couple listens. It might be my tastes evolving away from their earlier sound but this is going to give What You Don't See a run for favorite album from me.
It’s the carbonation, the shock to the body/sugar rush, calories, and caffeine. Plus coke just tastes better.
I feel like if I drank coke while in the middle of a run my throat would burn and I’d want to die, but I’m also bad at running, so. Anyway I listened through this again and it was a breeze, and songs are starting to stick out a little more. I need to listen to What You Don’t See again soon, but my initial thoughts are that Proper Dose is an easy no. 1, WYDS has higher highs, but this one is more consistent across the board, so it’s no. 2 for me.
You don’t drink it while running. You drink it at the aid stations while you try to pull your shit together after realizing that running 100k was a terrible idea and other people there convince you to keep running.
there's a sweet spot of soda drinking frequency for me where if I go like a year barely or never drinking it it tastes nasty sweet when I have one and then if I drink too much in a couple weeks I start to get tired of it but if you have a nice soda every 3 4 months it really hits
I'm sober so when I go out I'm a kiddie cocktail man. That's only maybe once every two months so the sweetness of the Sprite hits good at that frequency.
So I was curious: their album lengths are all super close. USAD - 32:03 WYDS - 29:51 Self Titled - 30:27 Proper Dose - 33:33 IWTD - 28:14 I think closing with the acoustic song is making it feel shorter than it is, and that it really is “all bangers” up until that point.
