Yeah you gotta spend a weekend there if you get a chance, I was just back home last weekend, it's always great
Direction rules. Still love Based on a True Story though. Randomly listened to "Surprise Surprise" the other night and had it on loop the next day. So good.
BOATS is my favorite of theirs, but Direction has some of my most played TSL songs (Direction, Are You Alone, Island, Something Left to Give)
Yeah, I like BOATS a good deal more than Direction but I still really like the latter. I never really got into SILYMI.
BOATS is amazing, but I think Direction has the best songs on it overall. I never skip a track. Can't say that for BOATS in my experience. BOATS does have my favorite TSL song though...Artistic License. Plus....My mom is a mean Sax player and used to play in Blues and Jazz bands all the time...so she's had to deal my constant punk/pop-punk/and even screamo phase for years. She always complained how they all sounded the same and that I might as well play the same song on repeat haha. There were two albums that she always pointed out and said how much she liked them...one was Bad Religion - Process of Belief (Bc she loved the lyrics and harmonies) and the other was The Staring Line - Direction. She went out bought Direction haha. For that, I'll always love that album the most haha.
pop punk is the last term I'd use to describe Direction. EDIT: eh I take that back I guess Islands is a straight up pop punk song.
What's everyone's top 3 favorite songs on Direction? Mines: Way With Words, What You Want, and Birds.
Hahah very true. Honestly it's been so long since I've listened to that album in full that I forgot about those. They definitely do try to branch out from that pop punk niche on that album though.
I'll need to listen to it in full again, but for now I'll say: Are You Alone Something Left to Give Need to Love
The ending breakdown in With Second Chances makes me want to jump out of a moving car. In a good way. EDIT: Silverstein is cool.
Just noticed Spotify has a Direction b-side on it called "Pictures." Fits pretty well with the rest of the album.
I love all of Direction but I'd probably say Are You Alone is my favorite. I think they've played it every time I've seen them. Always goes hard af.
