Kenny literally yelled "put your cameras away" before the song. He was joking and laughed about it but i wouldn't be surprised if it stopped people from doing that lol.
When I saw the Hives recently, their frontman literally yanked phones from hands and tossed them on the stage. Haha. It still didn't stop people from filming.
Coming from someone who says the Anyways EP is my fav TSL album, who also wasn't there last night... I haven't heard the new song but it's my fav TSL release ever
What do you think drives the differing opinions of frontmen - Christian in hotelier vs. Kenny who looks at his early discography with such fondness; and then Christian, with from the random interviews and tweets I've read seems very...jaded?
Excited, but no chance I’ll even listen to one second of some likely very bad recording of a brand new song. Hopeful for a streaming service drop for a nice Christmas present.

The only thing that could make that setlist better for me is Artistic License. One of those random songs that happens to be one of my favorites.
the starting line was not a phase and I'm so ready for them to return and dominate. Or whatever else Kenny wants to cook up, he has never let me down.
Just commenting on Kenny from afar and knowing people who know him, he was a SUPER fan of the genre before Starting Line getting recognition. I think that little kid who's just stoked to be there still lives on. I think along with that, he's just a super, nice, down to earth, appreciative person and I've heard that secondhand. The Starting Line isn't "everything" in Kenny's life and I think he has identity outside the band so he can just look back at it with a good tone knowing that people love the jams, they bring nostalgia. There's something so cool when bands today realize that their music is on one side so important to people who loved it and also don't think they're "Oasis" or the center of the earth. Like no one's life revolves around your emo band from 2000, but they love you are here. So I think this band kind of just gets it from a joy perspective.
To add to all of this (which is all completely true), Kenny is just a true music lover at his core. He's not the type to hate on certain genres or anything because he just understands that all styles of music have their place. I feel like sometimes these guys think they are "above" punk/pop punk once they initially grow out of it. And it doesn't hurt that he still has love for his TSL bandmates. Even back in like 2015 (pre Anyways), I talked to him at a Vacationer show and just mentioned that I had been a fan of his since the early 2000s, and he went out of his way to say how much he loved those guys and wanted to play music with them again.
I wouldn’t expect a full album, but a few songs every few years. I love they get to do the band on their own terms now.
Holy shit! I’m in Philly visiting a friend and they released 9 more tickets and I snagged 2! So hyped
I was there last night and i think everyone was genuinely surprised they played a new song and even though he joked about everyone putting phones away i think it did stray people away from filming it…i was standing in the back and i dont think i saw any phones up…im sure theyll play it again tonight and itll get filmed
