From 2016-2022 every time I saw them live, all 3 Anyways songs were in their set. I love that Kenny would say "this is the best The Starting Line song ever written" before going into Anyways. Then I'd lose my shit & everyone around me would stare at me confused
I get why people don't like Yip's work, but I'm of the opinion that almost everything he's had his hands on is pure gold. And I love that we're discussing opposite opinions on that in the thread for the best band in the fucking world
hell nooo, Anyways is fucking amazing, I listen to it all the time, and I get it, it's different, it sounds more like older albums, less polished than their LPs too, but there's nothing wrong with that, especially when the songs are good. Or maybe I just don't care as much - I even go back to tracks like Classic Jazz despite only having that rough version of it out there. Really glad if they're working on anything with Will, he's the guy that seems to just make the tunes sound as the bands want them to sound etc., I usually come across musicians being really happy with the process making music with him. All of that aside, I'm really excited for even a slight chance of getting something new from TSL
"Luck" for sure is a top 10 song from this band. When I saw them in October Kenny shouted out a guy in the crowd for singing along to every song at that point including "Quitter"
Quiet vocals in mixes would rarely be a problem for me at all, that would also be so hard for me to decide if I was to create a mix hahh, I'm always worried about vocals being too loud, but then I do see lots of people having that issue with some records (I remember some huge backlash for the last La Dispute album)
Big time agree. The mixing on the EP in general made me not revisit it as much as the rest of their catalog, even though I do enjoy the songs and they sound great live.
I love quitter….I just wish I knew all the words. Some of it is so hard to make out lyrics on it spoils the song.
Yip’s misses on instrumentation production are forgivable, but the vocals need to be clean and clear above all else. Menzingers got did the dirtiest.
Rawness of Kenny's vocals are the strength of this band. When you mute/take away that it really reduces them.
I totally get that too, though I'd say it's more of "unforgiving ears" ;D (I just want to believe I've got sensitive ears too haha)
I just relistened to this on streaming and I understand that complaint. I feel like a demo recorded on an iPhone would have had a better mix for that song.
every time i hear kenny start off a word with a growl i always wonder what he would sound like in a heavier band. is it just me?
Wut? How does Artistic License have the 2nd lowest number of plays of BOATS?! This is close to my #1.
