I thought they sounded good on those live streams.

Sounded better than the last studio recorded project with Yip, for sure.

 

2023 = The return of Pop Punk

 

Fingers crossed it’s a 5 song and not another 3. Not even going to entertain the possibility of an LP.

 

I'd even be happy if it's Vacationer, I just want some new Kenny

I swear he said there was a new record done back in like august and then nothing else.

 

Yeah he definitely did. Same thing happened with Mindset though and it turned out it was taking a while to get masters back and shop the record around to labels or something. Could be having the same issue - hopefully it’s not much longer bc I need that

 

The last EP was from 2015 or 2016 (it doesn't feel that long!!) right? I feel like Will Yip's works sound better since so his presence doesn't bother me.

 

Anyways sounds fine imo. Doesn’t have all the frills and slick production of their earlier records but it’s clearly what they wanted and they pulled it off. Might bother me more if it was an LP

 

I think the Anyways EP sounds fine and I am really, really critical of a lot of Yip's work and wish bands would work with other producers most of the time. His drum sounds (especially the snare) can drive me up the wall.

That being said, very happy to be (potentially) getting new music from them but wishing it was recorded by someone else.

 

I think Anyways sounds underwhelming. BOATS, Island and SILYMI all sound waaaay better despite being drastically different production.

 

Anyways gives me a headache to try and listen to. It's harsh and caustic with zero dynamics.

 

The songs themselves are awesome, just wish I could hear them better, ya know?
