They have absolutely no right to sound as tight as they do in those performances. Stellar.

 

I think Tom plays to a click track now which definitely helps. Both times I saw the. In 2005 their tempo was way off.

 

Anyone looking to buy tickets to the New York show? I bought 3 hoping I could make the trip from Canada but it turns out I can’t pull it off :( I need to see these guys some day!!

10 years ago I posted this picture. At the time I didn’t own a car so my dad drove us 2 hours and he stood at the back.


Also if anyone is willing I’d really like it if someone can get me a specific t-shirt design this weekend. I’ll pay for shirt+shipping and throw in a couple bucks for the effort and time. It’s their YSL copycat design. Sold out in Anaheim back in October.

I see that they are playing on the avalanche festival soon. Surely there must be plans to release new music this year? Surely!? They can’t keep living off the back catalogue forever.

also pretty sure Kenny said the ‘new’ vacationer album is finished last August so could be a big year for new music from him.

Their extent was a 20 yr set of shows, their holiday shows, and a couple of festivals.

I'm pretty happy getting that.

 

Direction is one of this scene's best, still holds up so well. That brigde in Birds, just wonderful.

 

They really made their best material at the end.

 

Direction is good but I dont think its close to as good as BOATS or SILYMI.

 

Their best album is the Anyways EP

 

I can't remember the last time I listened to anything of theirs that wasn't SILYMI actually, even though I like a lot of songs from the other 2 albums. I need to do a discog run through. It's been forever.

 

Direction may be the best written, but it’s never been my favorite. Never been a big fan of Something Left To Give or Need To Love. Both kinda drag for me.

 

Everything up to and including SILYMI gives me nostalgic feelings whereas BOATS and Direction (and Anyways) still feel/sound really current to me, so I usually lean towards those. I'd love another full-length, but would settle for another EP...
