Signed up for their Patreon recently to check out the Making of Fuck Art doc (well worth it) and they have all their Dancing to Thrash live streams posted from last fall. Have enjoyed ripping through those, really enjoy watching them play. They've also got a Live at the Opera House doc on there from their 2018 Master Volume headlining tour. If you're a fan, I'd definitely check their Patreon out!
Has anyone mentioned yet that Best of Me JUST went Gold a few days ago. So crazy! So cool for them to have a certified single all these years after releasing a proper album.
I was just thinking, would releasing these performances on vinyl (and eventually spotify/apple music) be their attempt to take control of their masters? Assuming Geffen/Virgin still owns the masters to those recordings, these re recordings will now allow them to cash in on sales/streams of their back catalog? Sorry, just a random thought that popped in my head while procrastinating at work lol All I know is I'll be very excited when this recording of Classic Jazz is available on Spotify. Also hoping Jimmy Eat World does the same with their recent performances (haven't watched but hearing really great things).
I don't think it'll change much, people aren't going to stop listening to the original albums when these re-recordings come out.
21 tracks is a lot for vinyl, even for a double LP. So makes sense to remove the two that are already on the other records. But yeah wish the Title Fight thing wasn’t on there haha
In the BOATS stream, Kenny referenced that time the Top 13 finalists of American Idol Season 10 covered "The World" for a Ford-branded music video. Here's that mess. Edit: The aired version of this segment is shorter, but in higher quality. I've posted it here for posterity.
Yeah makes sense. Also has me thinking that these will definitely be added to streaming services around the vinyl's release. Wouldn't make sense to upload on Spotify 2 different live versions of both those songs if they're from the same sessions and sound identical.
While I'm thinking about it, here's a collection of posters I made for the series. You know, for archival purposes and such. or if you have the corresponding videos in your Plex server or something
They really nailed it. All of the artwork for the series, vinyl, and merch was done by Mikaela Jane Palermo.
Yea I ripped the BOATS stream but not the others. BOATS ended up being like 8GB and that was definitely way too big of a file to try and do the others
