2/2. Different turn for them compared to SOH and other stuff since it's not super wordy-lyrical. Won't top SOH for me, but I have a feeling when this album comes out it'll just be on repeat for me. Would love if the album itself was this varied and intentional between all the tracks. Trying not to listen again and wait.
Yeah the bridge is my favorite part and I love how the rest builds up to it. Some of Kenny's catchiest songwriting as well. That hook is already stuck in my head and I like that the instrumentation supporting it isn't typical wall of guitar pop-punk stuff. Instead, the vibe feels more in line with OG emo. It's interesting how much their new stuff constrasts from Direction's poppy sound. Everything sounds grittier, love that for them.
that chorus omg i'm okay with the mix, but when i imagine how much more i'd like this if it had the same amount of gloss as 'direction', it makes me yearn a little
These songs sound so fresh. Structure and build are perfect. Agree on mix in parts. I like to think the bands choice was that the singer wanted to be indistinguishable from the music during that part. Almost like the syllables are a different beat. Most lyrics I can make out. And I’ll read them when I spin the album.
I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I had a girl who looked good I would call her I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat And a six-four Impala
The vocal mix/delivery reminds of turnstile a bit. He sings differently than he used to, but it isn’t bad at all.
Man they sound fucking great. Really mature with an updated sound…..like I could see them cultivating new fans with this.
The chorus is where I hear this most, and that’s the part of the song that explodes. It is going to GO OFF in a live setting.
