That acoustic performance really opened up my eyes (and ears hmm) to the chords actually used for the progression; a bit more thought has gone into that, but I ultimately think the overall sound is the right direction. Can't have it all with certain choices.
I think for me it kinda sounds “one note” because most of the songs have that same fast start/stop rhythm and similar drum beats. It’s a very minor complaint though I thoroughly enjoy the album and the songs definitely hold up for me. Sorry, I’m no music reviewer
Finally had time to to listen to this and hell yeah! Very happy with it and the fact that we have a new a TSL record in 2025! ‘Enjoyment’ perfectly encapsulates every era of this band I think.
The one thing I notice the most in listening to this is how glad I am Kenny created music through Person L. I can really see how much that made his voice so much more rich and complex compared to the first TSL album. Makes most of these songs come to life and have personality and not just sound like a pop punk song along with pushing the guitar work to be less straight forward. Can’t say I’ve listened to anything since SILYMI so this is a nice surprise.
I love Person L dearly, but you're missing out big time if you skipped out on BOATS and Direction, especially Direction. It flows so well and really the new album feels like a natural progression from it, so I'd definitely recommend giving it some spins.
Humility has been stuck in my head for days. The one two punch of that with Enjoyment is the peak of this great album for me
gets better with each listen. I need the vinyl but the pricing with shipping is steep. might say F it real soon.
Yeah I’m very excited to spin this. In a way not meant to disparage the sound here, I always find Will Yip produced records sound best on vinyl for some reason. Or at least the ones like 2015ish and beyond
Im so stoked that the record is out before the next run of shows. I was already stoked to see them in LA, but knowing we might get some of these new tunes worked into the setlist now??? Fuck yes!
Man what a bizarre take to skip half of their discography, which is tops in the genre, and have any opinion on it.
Boats is very good but different from SILYMI. Direction is good albeit not as good. Neither as good as SILYMI but both are def worth checking out.
de boats? eyyy! silly me what is both Tony Soprano clarifying his misconception about multiple nautical vessels AND my ranking of The Starting Line albums?
I saved about 40CAD ordering from these guys. Hope it works out. The Starting Line "Eternal Youth" LP • Devil Dog Distro
You know I remember enjoying the song "island" but that was really all I connected with on that album. I think I was fully engaged in my hardcore phase by the time BOATS and Direction came out so it was just no longer in my wheel house. Same thing happened with Catalyst and Coming Home for NFG.
