There's a special place in hell for rustic and harvest themed Halloween decorations. Give me spooky or give me nothing
I wonder how they'll keep it safe though. I can imagine someone freaking out and stepping on the gas. Unless you have to drive, put it in park, and proceed.
I'm sure they'd stay away from the standard jump scare type stuff..maybe focus more on atmosphere. Great point though.
This is just a general question for anyone that might have any idea. What do they light up their pumpkins with? You think they just run outdoor patio lights through them all? I have about 8 that I use one of those LED timer candles, but I'd like to get them to be brighter. Can't figure out a good solution.
These bad boys work great as long as you remember to turn them off when not in use. Batteries drain pretty quickly. [$5.87] 10m String Lights 100 LEDs Warm White White Blue Waterproof Decorative Copper Wire Silver Line AA Batteries Powered 1pc
This is what I use now, and they're great because they're on a timer. So if I'm out, or forget, it's so problem. I don't think I'll get what I'm looking for unless I get a lightbulb. I think there's just too much light from the street pole and other peoples porch lights to make them as bright as I'd like. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E8JA87I/?tag=absolutepunk-20
It's probably on some pages back, but here was the setup from last year. Adding more this year, of course.
He was a fun, but difficult project. He comes out on Halloween night, but all the other days he's just in the window. Not risking having him stolen or ruined from rain, etc. It's a kids onesie PJ, with just burlap patches sewed on. His insides are just PVC pipe and pillow stuffing. His head is actually a fake pumpkin! Didn't want to have him not have a pumpkin head.
That's incredible! Great work! Side note..our houses are oddly similar, even down to the design on your staircase haha.
Thanks man! Spirit had one, but it wasn't what I wanted. He looked super skinny, weird plastic hands, and if I remember, the head wasn't burlap, just meant to look like it. So I made my own. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VD7VMV8/?tag=absolutepunk-20
Dang, those nationwide!? I went to TJ's for the first and second time these past two weeks. I think I might be a regular after I got those mac and cheese bites. Also, where would you even find something like that in the store?
They’re nationwide BUT they’re a limited buy, so get them quick! We went through an entire box just between everyone on the morning crew buying one today, haha.
Ah sorry just read the whole post!! We keep our potted plants on the windowsills by the registers, but every store is set up differently! TJ really abides by the “it’s your ship” thing, so stores will merchandise to suit their needs. If you don’t see them, ask! We can look up delivery dates and see if things are done for the season. Pumpkin items will be rolling out in the next few weeks! Get hype!!! Also try the butternut squash Mac and cheese. It’s to die for. also I am a huge nerd and love my job so I’m happy to answer any TJ q’s.
Definitely gotta get one of those, will probably hit up TJs tomorrow also, wish we could fly through September, ready for october now
We had an uncarved yellow pumpkin on the porch last Halloween, and said fuck it let's see how long it lasts. It made it to early July before it turned to mush. I just swept the remains into our front planter and now we have a pumpkin plant growing like mad.
Managed to snag the very last one. Not the pose I wanted but hey. The guy said they were flying out the door so if anyone is looking for one go soon.
Any other hidden gems I should get? I'm new to TJs, but I got: Mac and cheese bites (amazing) Cookie ice cream sandwiches (amazing) Soft pretzels, and some aioli mustard (fine) Brookies (amazing) Stuff I got but I haven't tried yet: Orange chicken Buffalo chicken poppers Different cheeses
Yesss okay orange chicken is good BUT only if you fry it - oven baked isn’t great. We cook it in peanut oil because we are heathens. I’ve heard good things about air frying it! the buffalo chicken poppers are amazing, esp with some ranch. my weird quarantine hobby was getting into charcuterie, so here are my cheese recommendations: - Syrah soaker toscano - Saint Andre brie - 1,000 day Gouda - coastal cheddar - mini basque - halloumi (currently in season) as far as other hidden gems... - orange peach mango juice makes a great mimosa. - the coffee is all very reasonably priced for the quality. - chocolate chip hold the cones are GOAT. the Christmas peppermint ones are the only ones I like more. - maple leaf cookies - the dark chocolate caramel popcorn - during Christmas we have like, a fucked up amount of good treats. Just all Christmas cookies and candy. Especially jingle jangle. - most of the frozen pizzas are very good - I Especially like the tartes and the two flatbreads.
