I like this on first listen, but I feel like it really loses steam at the end. And yeah, the Nancy Drew is baffling

not sure I would describe anything on this as 'identical sounding' lol

closer is amazing yea and Kanda is a beautiful little lead in to it

Soo, so glad they've added Keith on vocals! And with my first listen I thought this has got some of their best moments, and some of their worst hahh.. but I'm pretty sure I'll warm up to it even more

I love Keith's voice. I've been listening to a lot of the Good OId War discography lately.

I love that live version of Weak Man

Anyway, I really like the album overall, but as most everyone else has said, I don't know what they were doing with The Horror. I'm not really one to skip songs on any album I listen to, but this one is trying. Everything but the lyrics are great, but between the Dido riff and the 'chorus'. I don't know. Not my thing.

the horror is no worse than 1/3 of Lover so I'm ok

the vocal melody in the verses of the horror is very good so first listen i didnt get what the problem was until the nancy drew part happened lmao. i can live with the song though

im coming around on pretty like cake a bit too, got a nice hypnotic vibe to it. love the other 8 tracks here

at the very beginning on the horror, he goes “we need to talk about some shit, lets go” then the beat comes in

now im kinda enjoying hate listening to that track

I know, and that's what I'm glad about. I was too excited to realize how it's gonna sound, but what I meant was he hadn't been a part of the band from the get go, and I'm happy to have him sing more on the recordings. I do realize he's been singing in the band much longer (he sings one of my favorite downer-vibe summertime songs of theirs, which is... let me check, 19 years old, sooo yeah!)

Man I love Lover but I also used to do drugs and listen to that album all the time in college and that's really what it's made for lmao.

I listened to it a few days ago and still think it's my favorite from them. It's all over the place and not everything works, but when it works it's unreal

always thought the two songs Matthew Kelly sings on that album were the big winners, Heretic is honestly one of my favourite songs ever

speaking of which I wonder if he's still in this band, don't hear any vocals from him anymore
