im on kaleidoscope and idk i like this, even if its def not as good as like ocean or anything. only major miss so far has been the bangladesh verses but i already knew what i was getting into with that. granted, i have the horror up next lmao

Bangladesh is not nearly as bad as y'all made it sound lmao I was expecting something like the last song on Lover. it actually kinda riffs hard

 

Embree vocals on the closer hell yes

the 1-2 of The Horror/Pretty Like Cake is... not great but everything else here rips. don't really understand the reception in here

 

Kaleidoscope rules. I think the Apeshit EP songs should have been incorporated into this for a better balance, but I'm cool with this record. I'm sure balling thinks this is a grand concept album or something so Aprshit couldnt fit but I still think it would've landed better regardless with more bangers. Not better than Ocean but I'll go as far as to say Ocean is every member including Anthony's best record, so no one should be expecting this to come close to it.

 

The Fall of Western Civilization is an amazing closer. Keith is used very well throughout and he sounds killer.

 

The lyrics on The Horror are.... but the song itself is cool. I like this whole album a lot.

 

yeah im probably gonna tracklist the apeshit songs in too, sharon tate woulda gone hard here, and the more weirdo electronic cuts land better than the horror (altho i dont really think that song is as bad as people are saying either)

 

it does annoy me irrationally that the bandcamp download of this has a few seconds gap between tracks lmao but dope ass album. Lady of the Cosmos really has an absolute s-tier Ant hook

 

I’m sure I’ll come to like it more just so much new stuff out today and this was most disappointing of the bunch. (BNO, S@YP, LowerD, DGD) stacked day for new music.

ima be honest outside of the nancy drew bit i have decided that i quite like the horror lol

 

yeah when he's singing it's a pretty chill song that reminds me of St. Broadrick, but that Nancy Drew part is just not it

 

it sounds like just a straight on trap song

the Dido Thank You lyrics had me groaning and laughing too

 

conversely pretty like cake is pretty good

think mat kellys on vocals there

 

thinkin' 'bout Nancy Drew my dudes

 

The “blood on my hands” bits just sort of scan for me as a The Hives-type delivery. It’s pretty out of place, but not as bad as I expected either.

Enjoying the album overall

 

since they forced us to listen to this song it needs memes now to be worth it

 

Upon further listens, with appropriately adjusted expectations, I've come around to the second half a little bit, but still think it's not great. 6 mostly identical sounding, largely uneventful if somewhat pretty songs, 2 of which are straight dogshit, and a 3rd being just an interlude, is still a really underwhelming time, especially after the first single, and the first 4 tracks in general.
