Haha yeah idk I've watched both and I still cannot stand Seinfeld. Maybe it's just because I can't stand Jerry at all. Hate the guy. But yes, Curb is VERY good. Top 5 comedy for me.
Friends sucks and so does Jerry Seinfeld (although the show is good), just watch The Simpsons seasons 3-8 on repeat, it's not like Matt Groening was on the flight logs or anything
I mean, if we're being honest here, supporting Seinfeld is not much better than supporting Br*nd N*w, right? But I will see myself out
I do not think watching old Seinfeld episodes and supporting Brand New in the Year of our Lord 2025 are remotely comparable lol
He was, but there's a difference between watching a nearly-40-year-old TV show with dozens of other writers and cast members and financially supporting a currently touring band of 4-5 people fronted by a pedophile and, at best, filled out by folks that have been complicit in silencing victims I just fail to see the value in comparing the two at all
Neither Seinfeld nor Friends are the GOAT 90's sitcom. That distinction goes to Fraiser. You can't beat that snappy witty writing.
it's a lot sillier than a lot of those "prestige" shows but it rules. kinda like one long deconstruction of the lone wolf cowboy archetype which Olyphant plays extremely well. the casting for the villains is all-time great too. just... don't watch that City Primeval sequel for any reason lmao
I'd say the same. Frasier is a superior character to Jerry and Niles on par with George, and the writing is less about ramming home the same joke for the full episode. Though I do enjoy Seinfeld it's just a bit too self aware of itself as a comedy. Curb has proven my preference to it as well.
Mad Men might be the one. Never seen Seinfeld, seen Friends (ha) and Twin Peaks. I’m gonna catch up on years of Sopranos internet discourse first. Tony got shot by the guy in the bathroom, right?
Frasier is unwatchable. The great 90's comedies are Seinfeld, The Simpsons, and The Larry Sanders Show.
The best thing you can do after finishing the sopranos for the first time is to simply begin a rewatch. The Sopranos isn’t like other shows. It’s the best show, and it only gets better the more times you see it throughout your life
One of my favorite sideplots in this show is Angie Bonpensiero. Her going from suffering mob wife to destitute widow to successful working woman to mob associate was such a ride. I love that each evolution of her was meant to mirror Carmella's own fears.
Carmela has such a low opinion of so many people that it shocks her when people manage to do okay for themselves. She feels so self-satisfied showing off the new car Tony bought her, only for Angie to casually show off her car that she paid for through her own effort. She is left speechless when she finds out Meadow's friend Hunter got her life together and is pursuing the field she wanted for Meadow. The major female characters are so well written and complex in the show.
