Tony: He was a Russian commando. He killed 16 Chechen rebels single handed. He was with the Interior Ministry Paulie: He killed 16 Czechoslovakians! Guy was an interior decorator! Christopher: But his house looked like shit...
My favorite reoccurring bit in season 3 is Tony continually getting triggered by Billy the Big Mouth Bass.
I liked Many Saints more than I didn't. Very flawed -- the Silvio performance and fan service "varsity athlete" line stands out -- but Farmiga and Gandolfini in particular were quite good. I liked Imperioli's narration. It might have worked better as a limited event series than a film, tbh.
Every rewatch I forget how hilarious this show can be. There are lines and linereads in The Sopranos that are funnier than 80% of comedy shows.
There are a lot of great comedic pairings. Junior and Bobby are like a 1930's comedy team, Tony and Janice always bring out the pettiest in each other, Paulie's attempts to be the good son with his mother, Ralphie with Vito and Eugene. It is because the characters, even some of the smaller ones, feel so lived in compared to so many other shows.
Matthew and Sean trying to impress Tony multiple times and getting screamed at for it is a great bit.
One of my favorite Sopranos lines that I quote all the time was during Christopher's intervention where they were talking about how Chris accidentally killed his dog and Paulie just goes "what was it bahkin?" lol
There are a lot of great shows out there, but they can never replace The Sopranos. Twin Peaks is a great one to try because it is clearly its own thing and not trying to be the Sopranos, and The Wire was on a different sort of beat as well.
this opinion would make more sense if you didn’t like curb also the characters on friends all suck shit and none of them are likable except maybe Joey and it’s not remotely funny
Seinfeld at its peak is still a marvel of writing. The way some of the best episodes tie together in the end is such a delight, like Kramer's golf habit and George's need to have a fake impressive job title culminating in the whale being saved or a trip to the woods being derailed by a visit to a sick kid in a bubble.
